1 HP SmartStream Production Center
Course or module title Date or rev. # HP SmartStream Production Center Version 1.7 Features and Functionality HP Restricted

2 Key Features in Version 1.7
Bin Management Work Shift Schedule Job Proofing Rip and Store Adjust Print Quantities

3 Bin Management Overview
Manage job assignment to a pre-defined list of bins based on specific job properties Use the new enumeration data type to create the list of bins in your shop When a job comes into the collection work center and is scanned, the operator will be informed what bin to place it in If this is the first job in a collection, the system will designate an empty bin (Suggest Destination) If this is the next job in a collection, the system will point the operator to the bin with the other jobs for this collection (Validate destination) Once all jobs for the order have been placed in the bin, the system will indicate that the collection is complete and the bin can be freed up for use again

4 Configuring Bin Management
1 2 Add a Property Configure Work Center Settings 3 Configure Production View settings

5 Work Shift Schedule Overview
Define your scheduled hours of operation and include scheduled downtimes There are two types of scheduling: Work Shifts – active working hours Downtime– hours that are to be excluded (lunch, holidays, maintenance etc.) Account for non-working hours when estimating if a job is at risk of being late based upon the due date Define one or multiple shifts with varying hours of operation throughout the week Account for time to change shifts by scheduling it as a down time

6 Configure Work Shift Schedule
1 Add Work Shifts and Down Times

7 Job Proofing Workflow Overview
Produce a copy of 1or more as a hard proof for approval and then commence the full production without having to re-submit the job Customers can track job proofs as part of the production plan The Indigo work center has now been expanded to include 2 additional process types: Indigo Proof Printing Indigo Ripping An Indigo Ripping Step has been added to the Process tool box Include an approval step in the plan and use the new “Proof” template to ensure proper linking of the assets as they move to the printing step The proofing feature enables users to print the proof using EPM color mode, as an example, but if the rest of the prints needs to change to CMYK, the color mode can be switched to CMYK on the DFE and the job can progress to the regular Indigo Printing step and print the total number copies with CMYK   Once the proof has been approved, the job will resume printing and will not be ripped twice for these operations

8 Configuring a Job for Proofing

9 Job Ripping Workflow Overview
Pre-Rip jobs while press is busy or during after hours and store the files for printing at a later and more convenient time An Indigo Ripping Step has been added to the Process tool box Define a Rip folder destination on the DFE to store the ripped files Jobs that have been ripped and stored, do not need to be ripped again prior to printing Rip jobs for proof + print so that job isn't ripped twice for these operations Use the new “DFE Task Type” column in the Indigo work center to monitor whether the job is in a Proof Mode, Ripped and Waiting or Ready for Print

10 Adjust Quantities Overview
Automatically modify print copies to adjust for waste you may encounter downstream in a finishing step, to use when printing proof copies, or to account for overage. Adjust print copies in order to have a few extras in case there is waste in setting up some downstream finishing step Adjust the number of copies of a document to repeat inside a merged document at the Asset Merge work center

11 Additional Enhancements
Submit Job Widget CSRs can now drag and drop multiple files into a dashboard widget that is associated with a specific production plan A separate job will be created for each file and when all of the uploads are completed, the submit job dialog will be launched with the set of jobs/files.  Boost to Performance System Event Log and the Job Audit Log display has been modified to allow users to focus on the log data that is relevant to them 500 records default limit to minimize impact on the system New filtering capability added Mange the number of records displayed
