3 Welcome to SLSG! – Director’s Letter
1 Welcome to SLSG! – Director’s Letter SLSG MO Girls Club Members, On behalf of St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club and the Missouri Girls Division, welcome to SLSG! It is a very exciting time to be a part of the club. The mission of the club is clear and that is to be the best club in the country; one that develops players both on and off the field while giving back and being involved in our community. It takes all of you to help us achieve this goal and we truly appreciate your support of the staff and the organization. SLSG continues to make tremendous strides. The club has improved the overall operations of the day to day management to provide a first class service for its members. We continue to invest in facilities, amenities, and staffing. Most importantly, we continue to work on our culture each and every day through the shield values of the club (Passion-Respect-Humility-Tradition-Unity). We use these values to help teach our players, build character, make good decisions, and drive behavior. This is an integral part of being a member of St. Louis Scott Gallagher and the key ingredient in making us the best club in the country! On the field, we continue to work with our coaches to create the best environment possible to maximize each player's experience. In addition, the club has implemented a curriculum which continues to improve and evolve with the ever-changing landscape of US Soccer. The Programming that the Missouri Girls Division boasts including; ECNL, Premier, and Competitive Club Level teams, Technical Training, Goal Keeper Training, Club Training, Player Development Training, Futsal, and Performance Training makes for the most inclusive club in the State. These positive steps have allowed us to continue to have success on the field at every level and contribute to the ever increasing positive reputation of St. Louis soccer. As always, throughout the season, please do not hesitate to provide us feedback on your experience. We wish you the best this season and look forward to seeing you on the fields. Again, thank you so much for your trust in SLSG, Steve Pecher Scott McDoniel Director of the Missouri Girls Director of Coaching Missouri Girls

10 Welcome to SLSG! – Soccer Training!
8 One of the many benefits to being a player within the SLSG organization is the level of soccer training that our coaches provide. The majority of SLSG MO Girls teams train a minimum of twice per week on a day and time set by the club. Training space is provided by the club and the amount of space is determined by age (younger ages in smaller space, older ages in bigger space). Just as a reminder SLSG provides other opportunities to get better on the ball through “Club Training” and “Player Development Training”. Club Training is a training session led by Club Staff once per week – ten times in the Fall and ten times in the Spring. Player Development Training is for any individual playing on a Club Level Team who would like extra work on ball skills and is offered eight times in the fall and again eight times in the spring. For those not getting enough during the week we also have “Specialty Training”. For more information on all our training you can go to the website and click “Training” then click “Soccer Training”

11 Welcome to SLSG! – The League!
9 In 2008, in conjunction with the merger of three clubs that led to what is now known as SLSG, the club started their own “In-House” league. The league today, is known as the P6 (Premier 6v6 League), P7, and P9. The motivation behind starting this league was purely developmental; like-ability teams playing against like-ability teams, on turf, under staff supervision, with league rules that compliment positive sideline behavior and the freedom to learn the game the SLSG way. Schedules are posted on the SLSG website under “SLSG MO” and the “League” drop down menu option each season as well as the results. Games are played at the WWT Soccer Park in Fenton.

12 Welcome to SLSG! – SLSG Fees
11 SLSG fees are separated into two different categories for each age, level, and team. The fees are split; “Club Fees” and “Team Fees”. Club Fees are set by the club each year and paid at the time of registration. Team Fees are determined by each individual team and can differ depending on age, number of tourneys, league participation, etc. Team Fee payment is set by the manager of each team. All that is included in the two sets of fees is listed below: Club Level Fees $795(U9) Team Fees (Average b/w $500 & $700) Training Gear MYSA Registration Fee Ball Tournament Fees Training Space League Fees Club Training Possible Indoor Technical Training Extra SLSG Team Attire Turkey Bowl Champions Cup Unity Cup *Club Fees are increased at the Elite and Premier Levels *There are Sibling Discounts, ask your Division Director for details *P - League Fees are included in a U6 through U8 Club Level Fee *SLSG does have a Financial Assistance Program (FAP). For more details contact your Division Director *All Fees are accounted for through Club Designated Team Accounts – NO OUTSIDE ACCOUNTS ARE PERMITTED

13 Welcome to SLSG! – Player Placement / Levels
12 SLSG’s Player Placement Philosophy is simple; “like-ability and like-minded players should play together”. This is how teams are formed each year and how each individual player is placed within the club. The Club always takes in to account other factors, namely, age and geography. Placement, in most cases will be based upon ability. The Club also believes that there should be movement between levels throughout the year, not just at tryout time. If a player is developing at a quicker or slower rate than her teammates it is important that SLSG find the healthiest environment for that player. In cooperation with parents, head coaches, and division directors, players may be moved throughout the year. Each age group beginning at U8, has three distinct levels: Elite, Premier, and Club Elite – Elite teams host the highest ability player and at U14 begin competition in the Elite Clubs National League. For more information on this playing level please contact Elite Program Director Ralph Richards at Premier – SLSG is the only club in St. Louis to have a designated Premier Program and Staff. At U13 our Premier Girls Teams in Missouri begin competition in the Midwest Regional League and set a goal each year to win the Missouri State Cup hosted by the Missouri Youth Soccer Association. For more information on this playing level please contact Premier Program Director Sterling Wescott at Club – The largest percentage of SLSG members compete at the Club Level. These players mostly participate in our own league, or another local league specifically SLYSA. These teams may compete in the Missouri President’s Cup. For more info on this playing level and for any age please contact Matt Stichling at

Welcome to SLSG! – SLSG Missouri ECNL Program 14 The ECNL was founded in 2009 by forward-thinking Directors of Coaching across the country who saw a need for change and special commitment to improving the daily environment for American elite female youth soccer players. These Directors came together and collaborated to build what would become the top female youth development platform in the world. The grass roots leadership and cooperation was unprecedented in American youth soccer, and the ECNL continues to be the most progressive and innovative development platform in the country. SLSG Missouri is proud to be recognized as the only club in the state that is an ECNL member. SLSG applauds the values of innovation, respect for diversity, opportunity, development, and excellence that the ECNL relentlessly pursues. SLSG feels strongly about the fact that the ECNL has been instrumental in shaping its structure, training environment, and coaching development. Furthermore the league is a proven pathway for those players wanting to play at the highest levels of the game including college, professional, and national teams. SLSG Missouri’s ECNL Staff is led by the Elite Director Ralph Richards. SLSG Elite Program coaches include Matt Stichling, Steve Pecher, Time Kelly, David Comens, Brian Woodward, and Scott McDoniel. 17 Welcome to SLSG! – MO Girls Parent Expectations
16 To have a successful program, there must be understanding and cooperation among parents, players, and coaches. Your child’s progress will depend, to a great extent, on this relationship. With this in mind, SLSG asks you to consider this section as your family joins or returns to SLSG. THE GAME IS FOR YOUR CHILD NOT FOR YOU. Supply plenty of love, recognition, support and encouragement. This allows your child to be confident, enjoy soccer more, and perform better in training and competition. Support your child unconditionally; do not withdraw love when your child performs poorly. SUPPORT THE COACHES. A player develops best when he or she trusts and respects the coach. The coach’s job is to motivate, teach, and constructively criticize each player’s performance. Please recognize that our coaches use their extensive experience to best develop each player. Your child will probably try many different positions throughout his or her career. SLSG’s first concern is for the long-term development of your child’s soccer skills under pressure, and there will be times players are instructed to do things parents do not understand. Player and team development will sometimes be given a greater priority than winning. *****If you are upset with the coach, please set up a meeting AND PLEASE WAIT 24 HOURS AFTER ANY PRACTICE OR GAME TO CONTACT MANAGER OR COACH!! THERE WILL BE NO COACHING OR REFEREEING. No matter how good your intentions are, we insist there be no shouting instructions to your child or yelling (complaining) to the referees during games. Let the coach run the team. Attempting to coach or instruct your child from the sideline is distracting and counterproductive for the player. Your vocal support and positive encouragement are welcome throughout good soccer play. Help your player to focus on the performance and not the result. Ask your child to focus on the execution of skills and themes addressed at practice (for example, collecting and passing balls, combination play, shots on goal, successful tackles.) UPHOLD YOUR COMMITMENTS. Foster an environment for academic/athletic excellence and good sportsmanship, Fulfill your financial commitments, and support and maintain SLSG’s philosophy on youth development Summer Program Full ECNL, Premier, and Club Level Programs U14 thru U18 Division Pre – ECNL Introduced U12 & U13 Division Club Training Technical Training Elite and Premier Introduced Juniors Program – Select U6 thru U11 Juniors Program – Developmental U5 thru U7

18 Welcome to SLSG! – MO Girls Coaches Expectations
17 The safety, welfare, and well being of our youth are of primary concern to all involved with the St. Louis Scott Gallagher. I will LEAD, support, cooperate, and assist in the promotion of soccer and good sportsmanship for the benefit of the youth participating. I am aware that my conduct has a definite impact on the youth, the program, and myself. I will conduct myself at all times in a manner that my personal action or interaction with my team members and parents cannot be questioned. I will show respect to all officials and acknowledge that my team is governed by SLSG, PL, MYSA and USYSA/USCS rules and regulations, and that the proper conduct of my team’s players, parents, family members, fans, coaches and assistants are my responsibility. I will train my team on fields approved by SLSG during the recognized SLSG soccer seasons and only during the periods for which my team is scheduled to use the field. If my team practices on any school property, I or my team representative will personally coordinate our team activities with an official of that school. At each practice session I will ensure that my team picks up all trash at the practice area before departing. I will abide by SLSG’S decision when fields are determined too wet to play. I will not play, scrimmage, practice, or use any field when this decision is made. Additionally, I will use good judgment as to whether play is appropriate or is likely to cause damage to the field if no official decision has been made in regard to wet fields. When a field status is in question I will contact an SLSG Director. I am aware of the potential hazards of soccer goals, and will inspect my practice and game goals prior to and during the season. I understand that movement of any anchored goal is forbidden except by SLSG personnel. I will read club communication, continue to educate myself, and stay up to date on soccer issues and trends. I will strive to attain the highest soccer education level possible. I will participate in continuing education clinics when offered each season by SLSG and attend all coaches meetings SLSG Directors host. I will ensure that my players are promoted to the highest team level at which they are capable of playing. I will uphold SLSG’s standards by my actions in my capacity as a representative of SLSG. I am aware that failure to maintain these standards could end in disciplinary action or dismissal. Welcome to SLSG! – Player Evaluation 18 Feedback from the Coach to the Parent/Player is essential to maximize player development. Every player that is a member of SLSG can expect to be evaluated by using the form shown. Younger players (U6-U9) can simply expect a written form that can later discussed over the phone between parent and coach. As players get older, a more personal evaluation is recommended; U11 through U14 can expect to receive formal feedback one or two times a year in person and have a parent accompany them to the meeting. The high school ages can expect to be evaluated in person once or twice per year, a parent can accompany upon coaches request.
