3 Possessive adjectives always come before the nouns they describe.
As is the case with other adjectives, they agree in gender and number with the nouns they modify. C’est ta cousine? Is that your cousin? Notre chien s’appelle Rex. Our dog’s name is Rex. Leurs voisins sont très sympas. Their neighbors are very nice.

4 Note that notre, votre and leur have only two forms.
notre frère nos frères our brother our brothers votre cousin vos cousins your cousin your cousins leur nièce leurs nièces their niece their nieces

5 The masculine singular forms mon, ton and son are used with
feminine singular nouns that begin with a vowel sound. mon école ton amie son histoire my school your friend his/her story

6 The choice of son, sa or ses depends on the gender and number of the thing possessed, not the gender of the person possessing it. Context usually makes the meaning clear. son père = her/his father sa mère = her/his mother ses amis = her/his friends

7 Possession using de French does not use ‘s to indicate possession. You must use de (d’) + [noun or name]. C’est le professeur de ma sœur. C’est l’amie d’Anne. That’s my sister’s teacher. That’s Anne’s friend.

8 When the preposition de is followed by le or les, there is a required contraction.
de + le = du de + les = des C’est la responsabilité du père. La maison des voisins est très grande. It’s the responsibility of the father. The neighbors’ house is very big.
