6 The importance of on-time attendance….

7 How we “do school” …. Arrival: Students need to be here before 7:45.
Breakfast in the Classroom and Lunch provided at no charge. Live Morning News (EKNN), pledge, moment of silence Sign in anytime you come into the building. Emergency Cards: Keep phone numbers up to date. Children can only be checked out by adults on emergency card. Always have identification ready. Dismissal: 2:45. A student’s way home can not change without a written and signed note from the parent.

Differences to ESEA: Required set aside of 1% of total allocation Written school level Parent & Family Engagement plan and policy Developed jointly with and distributed to parents of Title I students. Must be in format and language parents understand. Conduct Annual Parent Meeting Participation in the Title I program including requirements of Title I program, and right of parents to be involved. Timely information about programs, description and explanation of curriculum, forms of academic assessment to measure progress, and achievement levels on state standards. School Compacts School and parents will jointly develop a compact that outlines how parents, all school staff, and students will share responsibility for improved academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state standards. 10 TITLE I School-Family-Student COMPACT – Please Sign and Return to Teacher
East Knox County Elementary School will: Provide a high-quality effective learning environment that is safe and enables students to meet/exceed the state’s student academic achievement standards in order to exit our school on or above grade level. Show mutual respect to ALL who enter the doors of our school. Provide positive communication between staff and parents through parent-teacher-student conferences, school website, surveys, School Messenger, and other social media outlets. Keep the students’ needs at the center of decision-making and problem-solving. Wisely use the precious time we have from 7:45-2:45 to educate our community’s most important resource: our children. Provide opportunities for students to receive additional supports based on individual needs. Inform parents of their child’s academic progress. Partner with parents and community by providing opportunities for them to be involved. How to help your child be successful.

We ask PARENTS / GUARDIANS to: Support my child’s learning by ensuring that he/she has proper rest and attends school on time each day. Support my child’s learning by reading with him/her at least 20 minutes each night. Help set a positive tone about school with my child, so they are ready to learn each day. Review and discuss my child’s daily notebook, homework, and progress at school. Stay informed, communicate, and be involved with East Knox County Elementary School whenever possible, including parent/teacher conferences, school events, and assemblies. Ensure that my child follows school/classroom rules, policies, and procedures. Provide a mutually respectful and civil relationship between all parties (students, parents, teachers, and volunteers) Review the Title I Parent Handbook. Read and Review the East Knox Family Handbook (provided in paper form and on the school website

We ask STUDENTS to: Have good attendance and be on time to school. Proudly follow the behavioral expectations taught in all areas of our school. Portray the pillars of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship, and Trustworthiness. Read at least 20 minutes each night. Ask questions when I am not sure about a lesson or an assignment. Make good choices such as treating others respectfully, paying attention in class, staying on task, doing my best, and working hard at my schoolwork. Give my parent/guardian all notices and information received at school daily.

16 Work Readiness & Financial Literacy Program
Business men and women: Contact Ms. Woods if you would be interested in teaching a financial literacy lesson. PK-3: six lessons by community member 4th & 5th : twelve lessons by staff & business leaders: Biztown simulation in Nov.

17 How you can help your child be successful…
Read 20 minutes with your child every night. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep. Great Attendance Review your child’s work and sign their folder every night. Communicate with your child’s teacher. Work as a team. Be POSITIVE about school and the adults that are here to help your child learn and grow. Keep up with how they are progressing on their Kindergarten Report Card Skills.
