1 Examview training October 30, 2008

2 Welcome Examview for Social Studies
As you arrive please collect one of my CFF laptops from the cart by the window. You should take the one that matches your seat number. (You may also use your own if you brought it) Once your computer is on, please go to the following page and sign in.

3 Getting it installed Examview can be installed on your desktop computer by IT Department via “Helpdesk”. Make sure it is version # They have the program on the server. Since we use the Prentice Hall Curriculum in the high school everyone should be allowed to use the program, even if you aren’t teaching History or Government at this moment.

4 What is Examview? Allows you to select multiple choice questions developed for your curriculum to make up tests and quizzes. The test bank goes with your book. You can also make up your own multiple choice and open-ended questions to put in a test. on paper “bubble sheets” best of all, online (paperless) with results ed to you at school

5 What do you need? Your school or home computer Examview installed
The Testbank for your curriculum (found on the network drive for social studies) V:\Public\Social Studies Department V:\Public\Social Studies Department\Government\GMH USG 2006 v5 For US Government V:\Public\Social Studies Department\U.S. History\History Teacher Resources\PH Pathways Survey 2005 Testbank For Modern US History It may also be available for other books, you will have to research through your publisher’s catalog

6 Let’s look at how I use it
I keep the tests on my Wiki so kids can go get them so they can take them on CFF or any computer. You can also keep tests on your flashdrive and just print them out.

7 Here is how to set up a “test”
I will create a short quiz for History just to show you how easy. I will then save the quiz both as a file to be printed out and also as a online test.

8 How can you assign the test to students
Traditional way: print out and make paper copy for each student. You may also use an answer sheet or “bubble sheet” Can have 50 or 100 “bubbles” Grade bubble sheets on the overhead projector, not hard Cool way: create a “HTML” test that students can take “online” Deploy the test to students using Synchronize program to push the test to each student computer. Have student “pick it up” from somewhere online, like my wiki.

9 Synchronize Should be installed in all computer labs and for CFF carts
Allows you to both control and observe student computers. Allows you to send a file or a webpage. I will demonstrate to people who are using my CFF computers.

10 Posting a online test Best would be if teachers could post to real websites to store things on. Second best is a free account on Wikispaces. Allows you to save single files like this test, but also web links and MS Word files.

11 Online “tests” Not all online tests have to be actually testing something You all took my survey Here is a test that is a frame for writing a 5 paragraph essay. Other uses-a way for students to submit any typed work.

12 Questions? Please fill out the reflection on my wikipage. When done, please close the top on your computer and replace in the cart. Please plug it in at the correct numbered spot.
