Long-Term Goals Something you want to do in the future
Require time and planning Not something you can do this week or even this year Are usually those that are meaningful and give you a sense of greater purpose **The problem with long-term goals is that they are usually far off in the future and will take a long time to achieve. Staying focused on the goal can be a challenge.

Saving up for a new electronic device Getting into college Examples: Getting perfect attendance for a year Graduate from college Save for retirement Finding a job in a specific field Have your own business Raising a large amount of money Losing 50 pounds Running a marathon

Tips for setting long-term goals
Work backwards--think about what you want to achieve then plan steps going back to what you can do right now Create a picture of where you want to be in 10 years Think about what you need to do in five years, in one year, in six months to get to your long-term goal Write down what you need to do each month to achieve your goal After each monthly goals is achieved, look at your goals and adjust them as needed

Set short-term goals to help make reaching your long-term goals more manageable—the pizza principle These are called enabling goals because they enable you to reach your long-term goal.

Prioritizing your goals
How do you decide what to do first? How do you adjust your goals?-- Prioritize Prioritizigne means that you decide what is most important to you right now. All of your goals are important, but it is impossible to work on all of them at once. Choose what is most important right now Focus mainly on that goal Add additional goals as you become comfortable with your efforts Be flexible. Change your focus on goals as your life changes

Goals, both long-term and short-term, motivate us to be focused and productive. However, there comes a time when prioritizing between long-term and short-term goals seems like a daunting task. Prioritizing goals must start with identifying your long-term and short- term goals. It is important to maintain a balance between short- term and long-term goals. Have at least one short-term goal and one long-term goal at any given time. Having long-term goals is necessary but always keep in mind that your will need time to achieve them.
