Pre-AP World History to 1500 Academic World History to 1500 Both Courses Address same content Must pass WH1 SOL to earn credit Primary Source Analysis .5 Bump on GPA Prepare students for AP WH Independent learner with previous writing experiences Emphasis on essay writing Aim for timed tests by end of year 60-75 minutes of HW between blocks No Bump Short Answer questions/Shorter essays Developing writing skills Visual and written projects per quarter Untimed tests 30 minutes of HW between blocks

AP World History Academic World History since 1500 Both Courses Must pass WH2 SOL to earn credit Primary Source Analysis Focus from Prehistoric to modern period (Review of WH1-rapid pace) Focus on Essay Writing: CCOT, Compare, Causes, Periodization, DBQ 2-3 essays per quarter 60-90 minutes of HW per block Advanced writer 1.0 Bump Focus on History from 1500 to modern period (slower paced) Short Answer Responses and Shorter essays Visual/written projects per quarter 30-45 minutes of HW per block Developing writer -No Bump
