2 Our Work LGBT+ education at schools, for experts (social workers, teachers etc.) Equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for everybody not based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Support and advocacy for LGBT+ community () Political lobbying (same-sex marriage, joint adoption,…)

3 LGBT rights in the Czech Republic – summary history
1961 – same-sex sexual activity was decriminalized in Czechoslovakia after scientific research of Kurt Freund and Karel Nedona 1990 – age of consent was equalized; the first gay organizations SOHO and Gay Iniciative were founded 2001 – anti-discrimination laws in employment 1st July 2006– same-sex couples can enter into registered partnerships 2009 – anti-discrimination laws in access to goods and services 2016 – Constitutional Court strucked down the ban of adoption for registered partners 2017 – Constitional Court recognized gay parenthood from the United States of America, State California (surrogacy – birth certificate with two fathers)

4 Our goals Marriage for everybody – same-sex marriage (PROUD is the member of Jsme fér! (We are fair!) – Coalition for Marriage – group of organization which wants to achieve equal marriage – LOGOS, MEZIPATRA, PRAGUE PRIDE, CHARLIE, PROUD, etc.) Right to change legal gender without mandatory sterilization Full adoption rights for same-sex couples Respectful society towards LGBT+ people

5 LGBT parenting in the Czech Republic
Czech gay and lesbian couples have not access to joint and stepparent adoption. Married couples (woman+man) can jointly adopt. Single people can individually adopt. In June 2016 Constitutional Court strucked down a ban which forbade people living in the registered partnerships from adopting children as individuals. Children can be adopted to registered partnership, but only one partner from the couple can be officially parent.

8 Situation in the Czech Republic
Support of the same-sex couples right – almost majority for total equality Men having sex with men can be excluded from donating blood Trans people changing legal gender must go through sterilization LGBT+ related hate crimes – not enough data LGBT+ homelessness – not the core issue for any of the LGBT+ NGO‘s
