2 September 18th (1850) The U.S Congress passes the Fugitive Slave Act, which requires the return of runaway slaves regardless of where they are captured. How do you think free African Americans in the north responded to the passage of this law? Explain your answer.

3 September 19th (1902) The Wright brothers begin a series of nearly 1,000 glider flights in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The flights would help them design their powered aircraft they would fly a year later. The airplane was an extremely important invention that changed the world forever. In your opinion, what is the biggest invention of the last 100 years and why?

4 September 20th (1984) 12 people are killed when a suicide car bomber attacks the U.S embassy complex in Beirut, Lebanon. Is terrorism an effective method of getting change? Why or why not

5 September 21st (1348) Riots against Jews spread all over Swiss cities. Jews were blamed for the plague (black death) after some Jews, while being tortured, said that they had been given poison to place in wells in Venice. Why do you think the Jews were blamed for the Bubonic plague? What was the real cause?
