6 PRE-ACTIVITY Then list at least three types of rule you would want to establish if you were stranded on a desert island with members of this class. Essential Question: What are the major forms of government? Decide who in the class will perform the following duties: Hunting/gathering, cooking, fishing, making shelter, caring for the sick Decide how your community will determine if someone is guilty of breaking the rules Decide what, if any, will be the punishment for rule breakers Identify any other rules you wish to have for your community Determine how you will make additional rules in the future and who will make them

What are some advantages and disadvantages to one person making the decisions? Based on this experience, do you think people can be trusted to govern themselves? Explain your answer.
