2. The world had seen mostly authoritarian governments (enforcing strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom)
Types of Authoritarian gov’ts: Absolute Monarch, Dictatorship/Totalitarianism/Autocracy, Aristocracy, Theocracy, Oligarchy.
A dictatorship is a leader or group (usually military) that’s seizes control through force.
A monarchy is when a leader or a king, queen, or ruling family has the control of the government. This power is passed on through family succession.
Oligarchy is when a few people or groups have all the control.
Anarchy is when no one person or group has control or authority.

3. Tyranny: cruel or oppressive government
Aristocracy: Wealthy nobles have the majority of the power within the government
Absolute monarchy: king or queen has all the power
Constitutional monarchy: king or queen has limited power because of constitutional laws
Representative Democracy: Rule by the people where they vote for individuals who then make laws and govern for them
Direct Democracy: every citizen votes on every topic and is involved in the government
