20 Semester Electives All semester-long classes are listed on the back of your recommendation sheet and have a # next to the course number. If you pick one semester-only course, you must pick an additional semester-only course. Keep in mind that the semester courses may not align with each other for semester 1 and semester 2…you may have a schedule that looks a little different for second semester.

21 Juniors Only : Should I Take Math or Not?
Most students should take a math class their senior year. All universities, technical schools, community colleges, and the military require you to take a placement test in reading, math and writing. Not taking math senior year significantly impacts your scores on these exams This may cause you to be placed in non-college level courses. Worse, it could impact your admission to a university or the program of your choice. Choose carefully! If you decide that you no longer want a math class in your senior year because you already have 3.0 credits, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO DROP IT!!!!

22 Juniors Only: Should I Take Economics in Summer or Not?
Seniors may take Economics in Summer School and Economics and/or American Government as Pass/Grade. If you take Economics and/or American Government as Pass/Grade and plan on playing athletics at the NCAA Division I or II level, it will count toward your Core Course GPA as a grade of C. Summer school will cost $145 and 60 hours of your time. Registration begins Monday, April 24, in the Main Office; be prepared on the first day with money and a completed form from your counselor!

23 Juniors Only: Early Graduation
Early graduation deadline: December 1st Early grads may NOT enroll in work programs or 2-hour courses. All requirements must be fulfilled by the end of 1st semester If you would like to graduate early, please discuss this with your counselor at course selection

24 Parent Signature Forms Required
Students wanting to take 7 or 8 classes: Must have a 3.0 GPA Not guaranteed PE Exemption Requests Students enrolling in a Travel Course

25 Final Notes If you do not have one of the courses scheduled for course selection, your counselor will send a pass for you at a different time. Make sure you have planned and researched your classes BEFORE your selection meeting. If you are absent, your counselor will attempt to send a pass for you. However, repeated absences will result in your counselor choosing your elective for you and you may not be able to change it.

26 SUMMARY Carefully research your courses.
Be prepared with 6 courses in January. Once an AP or Travelling class is approved to run, no student will be permitted to drop it. All signed paperwork due by Friday, January 27. No course changes after Friday, January 27.
