Highlight all of the words that you think apply to YOU If you don’t know a word, write it at the top of your paper and define it. On the back of the paper, choose five of the qualities you said applied to you and explain how a character could DEMONSTRATE those qualities Choose 3 qualities you applied to yourself and explain how a conflict might CHANGE those qualities

4 Round Robin Storytelling
Everyone starts with the same suspenseful story prompt Write your name at the top of the story Each member of the group adds to the story Each session will focus on developing a certain aspect of the story

5 Exposition Look at your group’s prompt
The prompt is your FIRST sentence Make sure your name is at the top For 5 minutes, write an exposition for this story. What is revealed in the exposition: The narrator/main character(s) The problem The setting (time and place)

6 Rising action and Character Development
Write your name in the margin next to where you will begin writing Read what the person before you has written. Add onto the story: Focus on the next events in the plot How does the plot become more complicated? How does the main character react to this? What kind of person is the main character? Don’t TELL us SHOW us with the character’s ACTIONS.

7 Rising Action/Change of Setting
Write your name in the margin next to where you’ll be writing Take a few minutes to read what the people before you have written Pick the story up where they left off. Add to the conflict, how did the main character attempt to solve the last problem, and what complicates the matter further Change up the setting Put the characters into a new room or new location

8 Climax/Turning Point Write your name in the margin next to where you will begin writing Take a few minutes to read what has been written so far Based on the events of the story so far, what would be a good climax or turning point for the events? Consider what you think the main character’s end goal is. Are they successful?
