1 Good Afternoon! 26 September 2017
Objective: I will be able to point out the plot of a story and understand the five stages of plot. Take out a piece of paper and a writing utensil On the piece of paper write down A proper MLA heading Write 6-10 sentences about the plot of an episode of your favorite T.V. show. You have 5 minutes.

2 Story Time!

3 Plot- The series of events that make up a story. There are five stages.

4 The FIVE Stages of Plot Climax Falling Action Rising Action Exposition
Resolution

5 Exposition Setting Characters Conflict
Here, the author introduces the: Setting Characters Conflict

6 Rising Action Suspense Obstacles/complications And builds:
The part of the story that introduces the: Obstacles/complications And builds: Suspense

7 Climax The turning point in the story.
In this part of the story, the conflict is at its most intense.

8 Falling Action The part of the story where the author reveals the outcome of the climax. It also eases the tension and shows how the conflict is resolved.

9 Resolution The part of the story that reveals the final outcome and ties up loose ends.

With your shoulder partner: Partner 1.) Tell the definitions of each of the five stages of plot. Partner 2.) What makes a good plot? What makes a bad plot?

11 5 Stages Of The Plot Exposition-Start of the story, includes setting and characters. the situation before the action starts. Rising Action- Series of conflicts in the story that lead to the climax. Climax- The turning point, the most intense moment (in action or mentally), the most important part of the plot. Falling Action All of the action/events that happen after the climax. Resolution- The conclusion, the end. Where all questions are answered, all loose ends are tied together.

12 Story Time Again! Fill in your plot diagram using the examples from my new story as I go.

13 Fill out a plot diagram of a fairy tale
Ideas: The Three Little Pigs Goldilocks and the Three Bears Cinderella Sleeping Beauty Snow White and the 7 Dwarves

14 Exit Ticket On the same paper that you wrote down your bellwork on,
Re-write about the plot of your favorite t.v. Show. Make sure to include the 5 parts of a plot. You may either write out a paragraph, or list the parts of the plot and the example from your t.v. show. Turn in this paper to the bin before you leave! Have a great day!!!
