5 PROTEST Samuel Adams organizes the Sons of Liberty
to protest the Stamp Act with the Stamp Act Congress Committees of Correspondence – colonies communicate and dealing with England Eventually repealed but King approves the Declaratory Act-Parliament has full authority over legislation in colonies

7 TEA ACT 1773 Gave British East India Co. control of tea trade and forced colonists to buy only this kind of tea Before the new law, most tea was smuggled to get around paying taxes and now everyone would have to pay. CAUSES: British wanted money and to show control over colonies EFFECTS: _Colonist formed the committees of correspondence. _This act enraged the colonists.

9 The Boston Tea Party Colonists dressed up like Mohawk Indians and boarded three British ships full of tea. The colonists dumped all the tea into the harbor, about 90,000 pounds. King George III was furious!

21 INTOLERABLE ACTS 1774 Boston Tea party angered the British and they chose to master the colonies. The intolerable acts were a series of laws created to punish the colonists. The British called them the Coercive Acts but they were so harsh the colonies called them intolerable. CAUSES: _ Act would close the port of Boston until colonists paid for the destroyed tea. Banned colonial committees of correspondence The act allowed Britain to house soldiers whenever necessary. EFFECTS: Other colonies offered to support Massachusetts and the committees of correspondence
