Music Teaching Philosophy

2
Instilling Passion My main goal within music teaching is to instill the same appreciation for music that I have obtained through my own experiences. “Most people die with the music still locked up inside them”- Benjamin Disraeli
3
Product over Process While I agree that both are necessary to a successful music program, the product should be held higher in importance solely to give the students a common goal to be motivated towards.
4
Real Life Connections I want the students to be able to connect whatever they’re learning to their past experiences. Creating an emotional or meaningful connection to the music is essential to playing it at the highest possible level.
5
Being Adaptable It is extremely important for any music instructor to be able to adapt to all learning styles and preferences. This not only improves efficiency but also helps each student relate their new knowledge better to their own lives.
6
Being Reliable Music teachers should be expected to perform at a certain standard every day. Hand in hand with this standard is an expectation that music teachers should be personable and approachable in a one-on- one atmosphere
