It teaches students the process of organizing, synthesizing, communicating and assessing their writing. What will writing time look like? There are four legs of Writing Alive: Daily Sentence Styling: For 15 minutes every day, DSS teaches students to use grammar skills and a different writing trait each day to revise and improve their writing. The revision process is broken into small chunks to help students internalize it. Monday: practice hand-on sentence structure Tuesday: identify sentence parts and genre coponents Wednesday: activate with vivid verbs, improve word choice Thursday: create fluency, style and add details Friday: edit conventions

5 Writing Alive Cont. Writing Period: Guide students in the planning process and interact with students as they draft.
