Spotlight on Child & Adult Protection Book your FREE place online at Awareness of Domestic Abuse & Violence  This course has been created with victims in mind and will inform learners about DVA, and how to support those experiencing it. The Course will include: What is Domestic Abuse and who is at risk  The physical and psychological effects of DVA The behaviours displayed by an abusive person  The impact of DVA on children, young people and vulnerable adults  The MARAC process  Best practices for supporting those experiencing domestic violence NEW: Working with Children with Disabilities An overview of the national and local agenda in relation to children with disabilities will be provided, basic knowledge of the range of protection needs of disabled children and information on how you can enable them to communicate about their experiences and provide support : The course will include: Different views on disability  Identify disabilities linked to physical development, cognitive development, language development and social development  The medical and social models of disability Barriers experienced by children and young people with disabilities and their families  What equality, diversity and inclusion means for children and young people with disabilities, and their families Barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them  The importance of working in partnership with parents/carers and professionals and the roles of other professionals involved in the case of children and young people with disabilities  Factors which may contribute to the vulnerability of children or young people with disabilities  Procedures when there are safeguarding concerns of children and young people with disabilities  The organisational, statutory and legal frameworks for protecting young people with disabilities NEW: Trafficking, Exploitation and Modern Slavery This course is about understanding, combating and helping people who are being trafficked, exploited or used in modern slavery. It examines different types of exploitation, how individuals become victim to abuse and what actions professionals should take to recognise victims and help them. The Course will include: The meanings of adult and child trafficking, exploitation and modern slavery  Respecting the rights of victims of trafficking  Responsibilities as a professional and awareness of the responsibilities of other authorities in the UK
