He’s been here for about five years now and came from North Texas State. The previous Dean for many years was Dean Riley who retired. These are Dean Ballom’s direct reports in his position as Dean of Students. As Abbey pointed out the Office of the Dean of Students is separate from his duties as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In that role he has Gail Rooney, Director of the Career Center, Carla McCowan, Director of the Counseling Center, Sarah Thompson, Director of the Illinois leadership Center, and Wallace Southerland, Director of the Office of Minority Student Affairs who report to him.

4 Domonic Cobb Campus and Community Student Services—
Campus Community Connections Committee & Community Life & Tenant Services Student Retention— Special Projects and campus wide committees Student Legal Services Late Night Dances Domonic oversees CCSS which provides services to students living off campus. He also provides leadership to the CCC a town-gown committee which spearheads the Door Hanger project. He also supports special projects pertaining to retention as assigned and oversees Community Life & Tenant Services, Student Legal Services, & Late Night Dances.

5 Belinda De La Rosa Assessment— ODOS Assessment Council, Student Affairs Assessment Committee, DMI Liaison, Administers all large scale studies, Student Affair Research Approval process, IRB consultant, & special projects as assigned Professional Development Committee Program Coordinating Council (PCC) & Strategic Initiative Grant (SIG) Acting Director of the Testing Center I oversee all things related to Assessment and I’ve listed them here. I also provide leadership for the Professional Development Committee with Mark Hege and we encourage you to send us your suggestions. We have an electronic suggestion box on the intranet as well as the Professional Development Calendar. I also provide leadership & support along with Rhonda for the Program Coordinating Council which also includes the Strategic Initiative Grant program. PCC is a funding mechanism that was established to help students so they wouldn’t have to approach each Student Affairs unit for support. PCC has representatives from each major Student Affairs unit. The SIG program provides support for staff members to implement new innovative programs that meet a need not previously supported. I’ve also been the Acting Director of the Testing Center for 3 years. And I just became an E-Dean. E-Dean

6 Rhonda Kirts Human Resources & Budget Processes Information Technology & Publications Advisor to Illinois Student Senate Backup Emergency Dean Rhonda oversees all human resources and budget processes for ODOS. IT and the publications manager report to her and she is also advises the Illinois Student Senate and often acts as an Emergency Dean & E Dean Coordinator. She has a very long history with the university.

7 Gina Lee-Olukoya Fraternity & Sorority Affairs New Student Programs
Transfer Student Advisory Board Gina is relatively new—going on three years now. She oversees Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, New Student Programs, and advises the first year national honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta (currently the membership is 720). NSP is also revitalizing the Transfer Student Advisory Board. And she is also an Emergency Dean Coordinator.

8 Stephanie Brown Student Assistance Center Emergency Dean Award & Program Stephanie is our new Associate Dean who oversees the work of the Student Assistance Center and the Emergency Dean Program and E-Dean Awards.

9 Community Life & Tenant Services
Rebecca Hartmann, Director Nancy Dietrich, Housing Counselor Supervisor Becki is also new—less than a year. Community Life & Tenant Services was formerly the Tenant Union, which provides students with free lease review, maintains landlord complaint records, help locating housing and also help with landlord problems. They work closely with Student Legal Services. Nancy Dietrich is a part-time counselor (administrative professional) and they also have student counselors.

10 Fraternity & Sorority Affairs
Ashley Dye, Director Andrew Hohn, Assistant Director Brandon Common, Assistant Director Michelle Hart, Administrative Assistant Fraternity & Sorority Affairs are found on the 4th floor and they support the largest Greek system on an American university campus (membership is the highest its ever been over 7,000).

11 Information Technology
Mark Hege, Research Programmer/Operations Manager Steve Konstanty, Research Programmer Jon Gillen, Senior IT Field CITES Consultant Rand Phillips, CITES Consultant Robert Ras, CITES Consultant Publications Manager, To Be Hired ODOS is very fortunate to have it’s own IT services in house. Jon, Rand, & Rob are the go to individuals for immediate hardware and software issues and can be reached through and if your computer is down they are in the basement of Turner. Mark and Steve are programmers that can help with specialized needs and the to be hired publications manager will provide support for written materials and website design.

12 New Student Programs Abbey Wolfman, Director
Corey Thoss, Assistant Director NSP is located in the new leased space in the Illlini Media Center on Green St. Abbey with the help of Corey and Carolyn is providing leadership to NSP’s programs such as: Welcome Week, Illinois Exposed, Freshman Orientation, Experience Illinois, Transfer Student Orientation, Taste of Nevada Street and U-Belong-a new student success series. Carolyn Mink, Office Assistant

13 ODOS Support Staff Pamela Anderson, Administrative Assistant to the Dean Myra Carter, Office Support Assistant, reception Dorothy Maduzia, Office Support Associate to Student Services Center Angela Ennis, Administrative Aide The primary ODOS Support Staff on the third floor are Pam, Myra, Dorothy & Angie. Pam handles the Dean’s calendar and assists Rhonda with some budgetary matters. Myra works in reception, Dorothy primarily assists the in-take deans in the Student Services Center. And Angie assists Rhonda with OBFS paperwork. Dorothy also handles the checking out of laptops, projectors, and the ODOS table banner. Both Dorothy, Myra, and Angie can schedule room 306 for meetings. And while not ODOS staff directly, Tracey Berman and Kristina Rath are on the third floor and work for OSCR. And Tracy books room 344.

14 Student Assistance Center
Stephanie Brown, Associate Dean Martha Cooper, Assistant Dean Larry Gourdine, Assistant Dean Giraldo Rosales, Assistant Dean Nicholas Osborne, Assistant Dean Student Assistance Center provides walk-in assistance, counseling, advocacy and referral services, assistance with complaints, class absences, withdrawals, and acts of intolerance. It is staffed by three and half full-time Assistant Deans and soon and overseen by Associate Dean Stephanie Brown.

15 Student Legal Services
Thomas E. Betz, Director & Attorney at Law Susan Y. Hessee, Attorney at Law Mary Ann Midden, Attorney at Law Beckee Bachman, Office Support Specialist Student Legal Services provides basic legal information to students whom are experiencing a legal difficulty. And they may be able to provide in-court representation as well depending on the type of case. They also provide notary services to students and work closely with the Tenant Union. All of the staff have been with the university for over twenty years.

16 Testing Center Belinda De La Rosa, Acting Director Katrina Mann, Assistant Director for Computer-based Testing Melissa Minarik, Coordinator of Individual & National Testing Ann Longfellow, Senior Clerk & Test Center Administrator Morgan Stites, Lead Test Center Administrator Derek Haggard, Test Center Administrator The Testing Center is the only income generating unit in ODOS. We provide over 500 high stakes computer-based licensing tests for our students and the region. In addition we provide proctors for faculty on campus as well as paper tests of the GRE subjects, ACT, SAT, LSAT, and MPRE tests. We also proctor individual tests for students taking distance ed courses and tests for prospective employees for large companies like Proctor & Gamble.

17 Veteran Student Support Services
Nicholas Osborne, Assistant Dean And last but never least--in addition to being a half-time intake Dean, Nick also oversees Veteran Student Support Services which serves veteran students with any problem they may encounter. He manages Vet Connect—a mentoring program that links new incoming veteran students with existing veteran students. He also provides training about Veteran students issues as well as advises the veteran student RSO—Illini Veterans and lead the development of the new Vet Lounge in the Illini Union.
