1 Using rebus – a quick guide
An introduction to using our online reading list system Rebus

2 Rebus upgrade Over the summer Rebus had an upgrade
Improved functionality & the ability to log in using your username & password We are still carrying out a large amount of testing so you might encounter some problems. If you do just let us know! We are working on any problems so please bear with us. When REBUS is fully functional, we feel it will be a valuable tool for students & staff We suggest that you use Google Chrome to access REBUS

3 How to access rebus Access Rebus via access the main menu Then select Login Enter your username & password and select Sign in If you encounter the old login box select shift+f5 to carry out a hard refresh.

4 How to access your lists
Access the main menu (you will use this a lot in Rebus) Select My lists. You can select the pen icon to edit your list. You will use the pen icon throughout to edit your lists

5 add an item via our collections
To add an item, select the green + button. You can then type the name of your item and select it from a number of different resources. You can use Summon to search for material

6 Add an continued Select the green + button next to the item. You can add more than 1 item if you need to Scroll down the page and select finish This will add the item under your Essential Reading area

7 How to add other items – a website
To add other items outside of our collection i.e. a link to a website – you still need to select the green + button Select manually add material You will need to select the drop down menu, select web page then select finish

8 How to add other items continued
Select the Material details heading to add details about the website To add a link to the resource you will need to select Material link URL’s and add the Web link. Select Finish to add it to your list

9 Finished web link You should then see your web link on your reading list

10 Moving items around Use the toolbar to carry out various functions i.e. select the move item button The cursor will turn into a cross and you can drag & drop to the correct area

11 Tagging items To tag an item select Add tag. This will open up a box where you can create your tag Tagging is useful especially if you want to split your reading up into specific weeks

12 Publishing items You need to publish your list so that students are able to see the updated version. To publish your list you will need to be in edit mode. You then need to select the publish button You will then see a URL (web link) at the top of the page. You can copy & paste this link then insert it into Blackboard so your students can see your list
