2 Reminders Here’s What We Learned Reminders
Math: We are working on the tricky teens. We play games, practice making the number with longs and cubes, and exercise the number of times the teen number card says. We will be doing lots more as we develop our number sense! We learned what estimating means and will start our class estimating jar next week. Literacy: Our word this week was see. We read books, wrote the word, learned a song, and found the word to dot with our bingo dotters. We focused on the short a sounds and identified words that start with the a sound. We talked about what compare and contrast means. Writing: Our stories focused on the five senses and we discussed sensory words and how to add them to our writing. I modeled how I could do this and children could choose to try to stretch out a sensory word to add to their writing. Many of the writing skills that are part of our Journeys curriculum will be introduced modeled. Children are not expected to do all of these things independently. Writing a beginning and ending sound in a word is completely appropriate at this time of year. We are building up to writing sentences. Reminders Monday is our classroom party! We have one sweet treat and juice boxes coming in. I have festive plates and planning games and activities. If you would like to send another sweet treat, a salty snack, a healthy treat or napkins, please let me know! Thank you! Reminders Book orders are due tomorrow! Remember you have a free book coming if you spend over 10 dollars and saved your coupon! Reading Logs are due back on Tuesday. Please send it back and help us earn another new book for our classroom library!
