1 Understanding the Land Sabbath (Shmittah) & Jubilee (Yovel) [A Primer]

2 Psa 24:1 The earth is YHWH‘s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
Psa 105:7 He is YHWH our Elohim: his judgments are in all the earth. Psa 67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou (YHWH) shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Exo 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my (YHWH) voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: Who has always been and is STILL in control of ALL things? YHWH !!

1.) What are the Shmittah and Yovel? 2.) How to ‘count’ the Shmittah and Yovel 3.) When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel 4.) What are YHWH’s instructions concerning the Shmittah and Yovel? 5.) Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel even if we are not in the land of Israel? 6.) When will the next Shmittah and Yovel occur according to Biblical chronology? 7.) How should we keep the Shmittah today? 8.) Importance of keeping the Shmittah and Yovel

4 What are the Shmittah and Yovel?
The word ‘shmittah’ is a Hebrew word [Strong’s #H8059] which means to ‘release’ or to ‘loosen’. It is commonly called the Sabbatical year and is the seventh year in which the land observes a Sabbath rest. Deu 15:1 At the end of every seven years you shalt make a release (shmittah). Deuteronomy 15:1 scripture is in regards to the land Sabbath. Moses is reemphasizing what YHWH instructed the children of Israel from Mt. Sinai to observe the land Sabbath: (Leviticus. 25:1-7)

5 Shmittah During this year the land belonged to everyone.
During the Shmittah (Sabbath year) the children of Israel were to leave their land (produce fields, groves, vineyards) available to everyone – even the animals. During this year the land belonged to everyone. Whatever produce grew of its own accord was called “Kefker” which means: “without an owner” or “ownerless” The Shmittah is also called “shevi’it”, because it is the seventh year of a seven year agricultural cycle.

6 Why does the land receive its rest?
* John 3:16 “For Elohim so loved ______ …” Every Sabbath we are instructed to cease from work and have a 24 hour period of rest. During this time the land is still ‘working’ by growing the crops for mankind. It does not receive any ‘rest’. If you would take 52 days out of the year (52 Sabbaths) and multiply that by 7 years you would have 364 days [52 x 7 = 364] or 1 year that the land would receive a land Sabbath (Shmittah) to make up for all the days it did not receive while we ‘ceased from work’. [52 days X 7 (Years) = 364 Days, 364 days = 1 Year]

7 ‘Yovel’ The word ‘Yovel’ is a Hebrew word [H3104] which means ‘the blast of a horn’. This sound of the horn would usher in the 50th year commonly called the Jubilee. The horn was sounded on Yom Kippur. In the year of Jubilee, it was to be treated like a Sabbatical Year (Shmittah), with the additional requirement of returning property to its original owners or their heirs (instructions in Leviticus 25) In counting the years leading to the Yovel, one must count 7 Shmittah’s (land Sabbaths) and then the following year would be the 50th year.

8 How to count the Shmittah and Yovel
As mentioned earlier, the land Sabbath (Shmittah) occurs in the 7th year of a 7 year cycle. Charted out, it would look like this in years: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (1) Notice that the 7th year would be a Sabbath year land rest. In this table, I have put a (1) next to the 7 representing one completion of seven years.

9 How to count the Shmittah and Yovel
This is what the 50 year pattern should look like: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (1) 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 (2) 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 (3) 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 (4) 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 (5) 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 (6) 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 (7) 50/1 The 50th year on the chart above is called the Yovel (Jubilee) year. Notice that the 50th year also looks like 50/1; that is because the 50th year is also the 1st year of the next Shmittah and Yovel cycle.

11 Shavuot: a yearly pattern of how we are to count the Yovel
* Leviticus 23:10-11, 15-16 * Shabbat [H7676] not Shabbaton [H7677] * Counting begins: ‘Morrow AFTER the Shabbat’ Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Shabbat 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (1) 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 (2) 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 (3) 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 (4) 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 (5) 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 (6) 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 (7) 50/1 Shavuot

12 Similarities of counting: Shavuot and Yovel
Yovel (Jubilee) Leviticus 23:10-11,15-17 Begins on the 1st day of the week and ends on the 50th day, the 1st day of the week (7) Sabbaths 50th Day - Shavuot Leviticus 25:2-5, 8-12 Begins on the 1st year and ends on the 50th year, the 1st year of the next Yovel cycle (7) Land Sabbaths 50th Year - Yovel

13 Answering Objections to a ‘49 yr’ cycle
Lev 25:2-4 “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto YHWH. Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for YHWH: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.” According to what I have shown in the counting and Shmittahs of the Yovel cycle; after a Yovel, there will only be five years to plant and harvest before the next Shmittah and people will use this to say that this way of determining the Yovel is wrong because one needs 6 years to plant and harvest before the next Shmittah. If that is the case, then how does anyone reconcile these verses:(Ex 20:8-10,12; Lev 23:3; Deu 5:12-14 [all concerning Sabbath]

14 Answering Objections to a 49 yr cycle
So how can anyone work 6 days if one of those days is a Feast day or appointed time such as ‘Day of Atonement’, ‘Feast of Tabernacles’, ‘Feast of Unleavened Bread’, or Shavuot? The fact of the matter is that normally there would be 6 days work within the week but there is an exception to the instruction and that is YHWH’s Feast days as described in Leviticus 23. With this thinking in mind, doesn’t it make sense that the Yovel year also starts the next Yovel cycle? (The following chart is in ‘years’)

15 When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel
Judaism: Tishri – Rosh Hashanah: is this Biblical? Exo 12:1-2 And YHWH spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. Exo 13:4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.

16 When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel
Lev 25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto YHWH. Jos 5: And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

17 When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel
An event that happened in 134 BC, a Shmittah Year 1 Macc 16.14  Now Simon (Hyrcanus) was visiting the cities that were in the country, and taking care for the good ordering of them. And he went down to Jericho, he himself and Mattathias and Judas, his sons, in the one hundred and seventy-seventh year, in the eleventh month, the same is the month Sebate [Hebrew= Shevat (Jan/Feb)]

18 When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel
Josephus Antiquities   (233) Now when his mother said so, he (John) resolved to take the fortress immediately; but when he saw her beaten, and torn to pieces, his courage failed him, and he could not but sympathize with what his mother suffered, and was there by overcome; (234) and as the siege was drawn out into length by this means, that year on which the Jews use to rest, came on; for the Jews observe this rest every seventh year, as they do every seventh day; (235) so that Ptolemy being for this cause released from the war, he slew the brethren of Hyrcanus and his mother: and when he had so done, he fled to Zeno, who was called Cotylas, who was then the tyrant of the city Philadelphia.

19 When to begin the Shmittah and Yovel
When the year begins In the First Month The Month of Abib (Mar/Apr) Given as instructions by YHWH through His Torah Followed through by Joshua and the children of Israel when they crossed the Jordan into the promised land Verified centuries later in the Book of Maccabees and the writings of Josephus

20 What are YHWH’s instructions concerning the Shmittah and Yovel?
YHWH instructs us what we are to do (and not do) in Leviticus chapter 25, Deuteronomy 15:-1-18, and Deuteronomy 31:10-13. What are YHWH’s instructions concerning the Shmittah and Yovel? 1) Do not plant 2) Do not harvest 3) Whatever grows of its own can be eaten by you or anyone, including the wild animals 4) Stock up on food to last into the following year until the new crops come in 5) Forgive the debts of those who owe you money or who have sinned against you 6) Free those who have become your slaves/servants 7) Read the entire Torah during the Feast of Tabernacles in the hearing of the whole assembly

21 Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel if we are not in Israel?
Lev 25:1-2 “And YHWH spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto YHWH.” Exo 12:25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come into the land which YHWH will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. Because we are not "in the land" then according to this verse we don't have to keep the Passover in diaspora?

22 Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel if we are not in Israel?
Exo 23: And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: 11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard. 12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed. (Keeping the Shmittah and Shabbat - nothing stating "in the Land"). Remember where these instructions were given, outside the land- Mt. Sinai!

23 Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel if we are not in Israel?
Deu 18:9-11 When thou art come into the land which YHWH thy Elohim giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. Even the Rabbis understood the Jubilee should be kept outside of Israel. In the Babylonian Talmud – Mas. Rosh HaShana 9b, it is written: ‘But it is written ‘Jubilee’?(16) — This is to show that it must be kept even outside of Palestine.’

24 Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel if we are not in Israel?
When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto YHWH.”(Lev 25:2) One reason for this verse is that YHWH is giving us the ‘marker’ or ‘sign’ regarding HIS timeline! Reading Lev 25 in context, explains what Israel is to do when they cross over into the promise land. They will soon obtain ‘possession’ of the land! Lev 25:13 In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.

25 Should we still keep the Shmittah and Yovel if we are not in Israel?
The children of Israel needed to understand what the instructions were concerning the possession of land (being land owners) as they NEVER knew what it was like to have freedom and their own land coming out of Egypt (slavery) The children of Israel came into the land of Israel, in the year of Jubilee, the 1st year of the next Jubilee cycle- they entered the land in the 1st month of the year, the month of AVIV to take their POSSESSION. They were given AUTHORITY from our great Suzerain King, YHWH, to possess the land and to dispossess those who currently resided in the land of Israel.- ALL ACCORDING TO YHWH’s TIMELINE!

26 How should we keep the Shmittah today?
We are instructed not to plant, harvest or reap anything from the land We can eat that which the land produces on its own. Anything in the wild or what grows without any work from us is ok to pick and eat for the day. If you have a fenced in garden then this is the year that you open your garden up to anyone (and that includes your neighbor and wild and domestic animals) to freely eat from anything that has sprung up. Stock up on food supplies during the 6th year to carry you through the 7th year Shmittah.

27 How should we keep the Shmittah today?
If you have anyone that owes you anything, you need to release them of their debt to you- no matter how much they owe you. This also includes sin debt. In accordance with Deuteronomy 31:10-13, read the Torah out loud for the brethren to hear during Sukkot that they “…may hear, and that they may learn, and fear YHWH your Elohim, and observe to do all the words of this Torah.” Each person should make an attempt and try to keep the Shmittah year as best as they can. I believe YHWH looks into our hearts to see if we truly are committed in keeping his instructions. This is only a partial list and I would encourage you to read these passages carefully to understand His instructions clearly.

28 Why is it important that we keep the Shmittah?
Remember what happened to the ancient Israelites who did not keep the Shmittah? YHWH sent them into exile so that the land could make-up its Shmittah years that it did not receive from the Israelites. 2Ch 36: And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: To fulfil the word of YHWH by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbath: for as long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years. This is exactly what YHWH said He would do if they/we would not obey: Lev 26:33-35 **BREAK TIME**

29 YHWH’s ‘Timeline for man’
Gen 6:3 And YHWH said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.H8141 Is it ‘years’ in this particular verse or something else ? H8141 שׁנה שׁנה shâneh shânâh shaw-neh', shaw-naw' (The first form being in plural only, the second form being feminine); from H8138; a year (as a revolution of time): - + whole age, X long, + old, year (X -ly). 120 Yovels X 50 year cycles = 6,000 Total Years 120 Yovels X 49 year cycles = 5,880 Total Years

30 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
120 Yovels X 50 year cycles = 6,000 Total Years 120 Yovels X 49 year cycles = 5,880 Total Years * 2 Pet 3: ‘like’ In context, Peter is talking about the coming of Messiah at the end of days. People were expecting this to happen in their lifetime. Since it hasn’t happened yet, people are now mocking it. Let’s look at the meaning of the word “like”. The Greek word “hos” means an approximation of time.

31 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
4. hos (ὡς, G5613) usually means “as.” Used with numerals it signifies “about,” e.g., Mark 5:13; 8:9; John 1:40; 6:19; 11:18; Acts 1:15; Rev. 8:1. 5. hosei (ὡσεί, G5616), “as if,” before numerals, denotes “about, nearly, something like,” with perhaps an indication of greater indefiniteness than No. 4, e.g., Matt. 14:21; Luke 3:23; 9:14, 28; Acts 2:41; with a measure of space, Luke 22:41, “about a stone’s cast.” See LIKE. Vine, W. E., Unger, M. F., & White, W. (1996). Vol. 2: Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (4). Nashville, TN: T. Nelson.

32 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
Let’s look at many other passages where this word was used with numerals: it was translated as “about.” Mar 5:13 And forthwith Yeshua gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about[G5613] two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. Mar 8:9 And they that had eaten were about [G5613] four thousand: and he sent them away.

33 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
Let’s look at many other passages where this word was used with numerals: it was translated as “about.” Mar 8:9 And they that had eaten were about [G5613] four thousand: and he sent them away. Joh 6:19 So when they had rowed about [G5613] five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. Rev 8:1 When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about [G5613] half an hour.

34 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
2 Pet 3:10 But the day of YHVH will come like [G5613] a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. This passage is to illustrate to you that the word “like” (hos – G5613), is meant as a comparative phrase. It does not mean that Yeshua will literally come as a thief to steal, but it means that He will come unexpectedly. The phrase “as a thousand years” is equally not meant in a literal sense. It alludes to a time period, likened to (or about) a thousand years.

35 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
A similar passage comparing a thousand years with a day can be found in Psalm 90 ~ Psa 90:4-6 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night. You have swept them away like a flood, they fall asleep; In the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew. In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew; Toward evening it fades and withers away. In this passage “a thousand years” is compared to two things: 1.) Yesterday 2.) A night watch

36 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
In Psalm 90:4-6 “a thousand years” is compared to two things: 1.) Yesterday 2.) A night watch Our English word translated “Yesterday” comes from the Hebrew word אתמוּל [H865] ‘ethmôl: ‘formerly, before, in the past, i.e., formally, yesterday and day before, i.e., pertaining to a point in time prior to another time’. In Biblical terminology, ’yesterday’ can refer to either a period of time or to another time (long or short), or to the past.

37 ‘One Day is like a thousand years’
We can conclude the same for this passage in Psalms as for the passage in 2 Peter. These time periods do not have to be a literal thousand years… 120 Yovels X 50 year cycles = 6,000 Total Years If we apply what we learned in the first session on how to count the Jubilee cycle, our calculation would be as follows: 120 Yovels X 49 year cycles = 5,880 Total Years We can conclude in saying that one day is about or like (prophetically) 980 years… (and yes- Adam did die in the first ‘prophetic’ day: at 930 years)

38 120th Jubilee began in 1996. Jubilee cycle ends 2044.

39 Ancient Biblical Chronology
Lev 25:2 says that when the Israelites come into the ‘promised land’ then they are to keep a land Sabbath to YHWH. This would have to be a Jubilee in accordance with Lev 25:13 – “In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.” We know that YHWH made a covenant with Abraham that his ‘seed’ would be afflicted for 400 years. We also know that Israel left 430 years to the very day that this covenant was made back in Genesis 15 (Ex 12:40-41).

Gal 3:16 But the promises were spoken to Aḇraham, and to his Seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Messiah. Gal 3:17 Now this I say, Torah, that came four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously confirmed by Elohim in Messiah, so as to do away with the promise. Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance is by Torah, it is no longer by promise, but Elohim gave it to Abraham through a promise.

51 Why not enter in year 2499 (7th Shmittah) instead of 2500 (Yovel)?
Lev 25:12 ‘It is a Jubilee, it is set-apart to you. Eat from the field its crops. Lev 25:13 ‘In the Year of this Jubilee let each one of you return to his POSSESSION. The children of Israel came into the land of Israel, in the year of Jubilee, the 1st year of the Jubilee cycle- they entered the land in the 1st month of the year, the month of AVIV. They were given authority from our great Suzerain King, YHWH, to dispossess those who currently resided in the land of Israel.

53 The following chart shows the years from the creation of Adam to the end date of 5881, which is the 120th Yovel completing YHWH’s timeline for mankind. Notice that the Yovel ‘years’ are numbered 1 to 120 and next to each Yovel is the corresponding year from the creation of Adam.

54 A Key Verse [Marker] 2Ki 19:29 And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof. This ‘sign’ recorded in 2 Kings 19:29 is none other than a 7th year Shmittah (land Sabbath) followed by a Yovel (Jubilee)! The Sennacherib prism (or Taylor prism) found in 1830 amongst the ruins of Sennacherib’s palace at Nineveh (present day Iraq), gives account of the victory battles of the Assyrian King. Many scholars date Sennacherib’s campaign against the kingdom of Judah at 701 BC.

In the book he states that there are only two dates in all of Hebrew chronology that can be confirmed by outside sources. The battle of Qarqar in 853 BC in which Ahab dies – 1 Kings 22 701 BC when Sennacherib attacks Judah in the 14th year of Hezekiah Kings 19:29

59 701 BC is an absolute chronological bench mark date in history.
It is recorded in Assyrian History and Biblical history. Widely known and respected Chronologists do not dispute this date.

60 Based on 1 Kings 19:29 scripture and Assryian records verified through Archeology we see that -700 BC was a Yovel year. Adding 49 year cycles from that point brings us to the last Yovel, which started in the year 1996! *Remember, when figuring this out on your own, keep in mind that there is no zero between the dates of -1 BCE to 1 CE.

76 So when was the Temple destroyed- 68, 69, or 70?
Jewish Virtual Library: “During the summer of 70, the Romans breached the walls of Jerusalem… shortly thereafter, they destroyed the Second Temple.” Judaism online: “…Jerusalem has been conquered, the Temple has been destroyed, but it was not over yet…Indeed, the Zealots manage to survive there (Masada) for three years…Josephus reports on the capture of Masada in 73 CE…Back in 73 CE when Masada fell, the Romans finally ended the revolt.”

77 Wikipedia: “The Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD was the decisive event of the First Jewish-Roman war. The Roman army, led by the future Emperor Titus (son of Vespasian), with Tiberius Julius Alexander as his second-in-command, besieged and conquered the city of Jerusalem, which had been ocupied by its Jewish defenders in 66 AD. First-hand witness: Publius Cornelius Tacitus (56 – 117 CE) [Historian- Roman antiquity]. In his work ‘Histories’, he writes about how the Judean Revolt lasted 5 years. He also states: “…the first of January of the year that Vespasian assumed the consular office was 70 CE, chosen by his father- Titus completed the subjugation of Judea and (how) later that same year, 70 CE – Jerusalem fell.” [Source: yahweh.org]

78 In his history of the 1st Revolt, Josephus mentions an invasion of the Judaean Idumaea by Simon ben Gioras in the winter of 68/69 CE. The fields of Idumaea, we are told, were cultivated. This detail is important because the Idumaeans in this region and that period were Jewish by religion and would not have cultivated their fields in the few months prior to a Sabbath year. Therefore, the evidence from Josephus strongly indicates that the Sabbath year could not have taken place until the next year (70 to 71 CE, Nisan (Aviv) reckoning). [Qadesh La Yahweh Press] So where does the notion that the Temple was destroyed in 68 or 69 come from? The book ‘Seder Olam’ by Rabbi Yose (ben Halafta), a student under Rabbi Akiva

79 Rabbi Yose Ben Halafta & Rabbi Akiva
After the Temple had been destroyed (70 CE), the Jewish leaders started the ‘era of the rabbinic teachings’ – the time known as the Mishnaic period ( CE). Rabbi Akiva ( CE) was the leading contributor to the Mishnah and Midrash Halakha. He was referred to as ‘Head of all the Sages’ in the Talmud. Akiva claimed Simon Bar Kokba as the Messiah: “Bar Kokba, son of the Star” taken out of Num 24:17 [there shall come a star out of Jacob]. His proclaimation can be found in the Palestine Talmud –Ta’anit 4.5.

80 Rabbi Yose (Jose) Ben Halafta & Rabbi Akiva
Rabbi Akiva changed several dates in history in order for the prophesy of Daniel chapter 9 to line up with Simon Bar Kokba. Rabbi Yose was a well known student (and quoted the 5th most in the Mishnah) under Rabbi Akiva. Yose changed the date of the first destruction of the temple and of the second so that Simon Bar Kokba matched up with the Daniel 9 prophecy to prove he was the Messiah and not Yeshua. Yose records the Temple being destroyed in 68/69, rather than the actual year of 70.

81 Seder Olam (Order of the World)– by Rabbi Yose
A book of rabbinic literature dealing with religious chronology written approx CE. The timeline was changed by one year earlier in order to claim Bar Kokba to be the Messiah. Book was used by those who would write the Mishnah and the Talmud. This book of changed dates is what is used by many well known biblical chronologists which throws off the chronology by 1 to 2 years.

82 Soncino Babylonian Talmud
In Bekoroth Arakin- it states that the 2nd Temple was destroyed during a Sabbatical year. In Abodah Zarah (written by Hunna) also states the 2nd Temple was destroyed during a Sabbatical year.

83 Why does any of this matter?
Some very well known chronologists (Benedict Zuckermann, Emil Shurer, Zion Walcholder) use 69 or 68 as the date of the destruction of the Temple to make their theories fit… however, if one believes the Sabbatical year was 68, then you have to leave out evidence of the Maccabean record for the year 134 BC- if one believes the Sabbatical year was 69, then you have to leave out evidence of the Maccabean record of 162 BC. Both 68 CE and 69 CE theories are incorrect. 70 CE is the only year that fits all the parameters…

84 Why does any of this matter?
When you count from 701 BCE by sevens you will reach 70 CE, which is the year of destruction of the Temple in the Shmittah year- verified through our chronological chart and historical sources. When you count from the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE by sevens you will reach 2016 which is this year and a Shmittah year. Again, verified through our chronological chart, the Zoar Tombstones, and other historical records.

86 These known dates in bold only line up with a 49 year Yovel cycle, not 50 year cycle…

87 Judah says we are in but can this be the correct date?
5776 Judah says we are in but can this be the correct date? The answer lies in Matthew 1:8 Mat 1:7 Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa. Mat 1:8 Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. Mat 1:9 Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. Missing Kings: Mat 1:8 Asa, Jehoshaphat, Joram (Jehoram), Ahaziah, Athaliah, Jehash (Joash), Amaziah, Uzziah

88 Ahaziah reigned 1 year Athaliah reigned 6 years Jehhoash reigned 40 years Amaziah reigned 29 years 76 years in total. Are all missing from the chronology. = 5852 !

89 Why does Judah not recognize those Kings?
Deu 29:18 “Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from YHWH our Elohim, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood”… Deu 29:20 YHWH will not spare him, but then the anger of YHWH and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and YHWH shall blot out his name from under heaven.

90 Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them (idols or other gods), nor serve them: for I YHWH thy Elohim am a jealous EL, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

91 ---2 Chronicles 21--- [Joram (Jehoram), Ahaziah, Athaliah, Jehash (Joash), Amaziah, Uzziah] King Joram (Jehoram) killed all his brothers with the sword. 2 Chr 21:4 He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of YHWH. 2 Chr 21:6 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto Chr 21:11

92 5776 years + 76 years of the missing kings = Year 5852
Aviv this year is the start of the new year of 5852 from Adam OR year 2016 of the Gregorian Calendar. There is a ½ year difference because Judah starts the year at Rosh Hashana (Tishri 1) and not Aviv 1.

93 Why is it important to keep the Shmittah and Yovel?
*The Israelites were exiled for not only disobeying YHWH’s Torah, but for not observing the Shmittah year or the Yovel. The land was not given its rest. Servants were not set free. Debts were not canceled. Neh 10: “…And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the Sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave (let alone) the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.”

94 *If you love the Elohim of Israel and desire to obey His instructions and keep His Torah, then this commandment for the Shmittah and Yovel is like the Sabbath and Holy Days…. “HOLY TO YHWH” Exo 23:11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it (the land) rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.

95 RECAP The Shmittah is a land sabbath that occurs every 7 years
The Yovel is a Jubilee that occurs in the 50th year which is also the first year of the next Jubilee cycle(49yr/cycle) The counting of the omer leading up to Shavuot is the yearly pattern for counting the Jubilee. We need to keep the Shmittah regardless if we live ‘In the land’ (Israel) or not. According to Biblical choronology, we are in the 7th year (Shmittah Year) of the 3rd Shmittah cycle The Shmittah should be observed from the beginning of Aviv 2016 to the last day of the Hebrew year. The Next Shmittah Begins Aviv 1, 2023.

97 Why is it important to keep the Shmittah and Yovel?
Lev 25:3-14 “…Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for YHWH:…” *By doing what YHWH says which includes observing the Shmittah and Yovel, here is what HE will do for YOU: Lev 25: Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.

98 Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of YHWH. The EARTH is waiting for YOU/US to get ready Psa 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom Let’s start understanding how to count/number our days and follow Yahweh’s reckoning of time Our desire should be to love and obey our Heavenly Father, we need to keep His commandments. Keeping the Shmittah and Yovel is another commandment we need to keep, regardless if we live in Israel or not. Let’s all try our best to follow after YHWH and keep his commandments, that includes keeping the land Sabbath and Jubilee.
