4 Scan the following descriptions of four World Heritage Sites in China and guess what they are. Don’t stop when you meet with words you don’t know.

5 It is made up of 492 caves, which were deserted in the fourteenth century and lay untouched until the beginning of the twentieth century. It’s located at the rock side of the Mingsha Mountain in Gansu Province. It’s worth the name of art treasure house of the Chinese Nation.

6 Located in the center of Beijing, it has an area of 150,000 square meters and has over 9000 rooms. It is the largest set of buildings preserved in China. It is called the Forbidden City.

7 It is 95 miles north of Nanchang, at the center of an area covering many scenic spots(风景点) in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is to the south of Jiujiang City and the west of Poyang Lake. The picturesque mountain is famous in China and worldwide for its beauty. Its views of the plains and the Yangtze are wonderful.

8 It was built in the 7th century
It was built in the 7th century. When Zhangpu King (Shuzhan Genpu) set up Tugen Kingdom in Tibet with Lhasa as its capital, the Emperor of China’s Tang Dynasty sent Princess Wencheng to marry Zhanpu King. Zhanpu King decided “to build a city to show the glory”, then started to build it on the Red Hill.

9 As is known to all, China is a country with a history of more than 5,000 years. In the long history, people in different periods have left us quite a number of cultural sites, many of which are world famous. Now look at the pictures and guess what heritage they are.
