2. Learning and teaching take place in a variety of situations
Learning and teaching take place in a variety of situations. Instructional settings and strategies should create an environment that reflects a constructive, active view of the learning process. Learning occurs through actively constructing one’s own meaning and assimilating new information to develop a new understanding.
Learning experiences in this year will vary and will include opportunities for group and individual work, discussion among students as well as between teacher and student, and hands- on/minds-on activities that allow students to construct and evaluate what they are learning.

This unit enables students to study the diversity of organisms by introducing them to the characteristics of various organisms and presenting different ways in which organisms interact within ecosystems.
