8 USFSP Efforts: Student Contact
Student Success Courses (first year experience University 101) for FTIC are in their second year. Compass First Year Experience with peer coaches in its second year. Researching why students take courses at other institutions and/or leave USFSP.

9 USFSP Efforts: Student Contact
Veterans Success Center in its second year, serving over 200 student veterans with specialized advising. Intervention for students who have been unsuccessful in a gen ed course prior to their retaking the course.  Center for Student Success works with faculty members and those students to support students re-taking courses to help them develop better study skills and identify content gaps. Counseling, psychological and psychiatry services within a comprehensive wellness center all work closely with academic affairs staff.

10 USFSP Efforts: Student Contact
Advising Center sequence of s starting a month before registration begins to bring students in for early advising preparation for registration. Roundtables held each semester with student leaders to learn about student perspectives of USFSP. Residential living/learning communities.

11 USFSP Efforts: Student Contact
Hiring retention specialist to: identify and recruit back students who left within a year of graduation to complete their degree; identify students who 'stop out' and provide ongoing advising and registration.

12 USFSP Efforts: Technology
College Scheduler implementation in spring 2017. Working with USF IT on spring 2017 implementation of a student case management system with predictive analytics. Identifying an early alert system.

13 USFSP Efforts: Financial
Completion scholarships for upcoming seniors who may deplete financial aid prior to graduation. We identified 9 students who currently qualify. Director of Financial Aid sits on Academic Affairs Council and sub-groups. Searching for affordable housing options.

14 USFSP Efforts: Admissions
Improvement in the incoming student profile of FTIC's each of the past three years. Strategic Enrollment Management Plan focused on recruitment, retention, and completion priorities in draft.

15 USFSP Efforts: Programmatic
All UG majors have four year course plans and degree maps published. Partnership with SPC/FUSE program for students not meeting our FTIC admission requirements directly out of high school. Creation of an online 1 credit course for students who have 'stopped out.’ Course offered to 51 UG students from fall FTIC cohorts.

16 USFSP Efforts: Programmatic
Master Academic Plan with priorities for creation of new academic programs, academic distinctiveness, and initiatives addressing student retention and completion in final stage. Academic and Student Affairs combined to create the Council on Student Success to advance proposals to the university that positively impact student success.

17 USFSP Efforts: Future Identification of 'gatekeeper' courses and a route to revision of those courses.  Consideration of the following: supplemental instruction and parallel courses; co-requisite options or pre-requisite self-paced, competency based education for gateway courses (math in particular). Proposal for a new residential facility with 550 new beds to open in the fall of 2019.
