Independent Not For Profit Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) with Charitable Status Board of Directors and Management from the Community & Voluntary Sector
A Focus on Social Inclusion Type Transport Provision
Funded by The Departments of Transport and Social Protection
Initially there were 3 companies delivering transport services in the county

All non-emergency acute transport for LUH including Renal Dialysis, Hospital Discharge & Private Ambulances.

Wheelchairs: increasing in numbers & size
Buses: Larger sizes required & increased weight capacity on lifts
Drivers: No training outside of Rural Transport

Not included in PSV inspections
2012 – 2016:
SITT have highlighted concerns & issued incident reports to the Dept, RSA, Gardai & NTA

17. CHALLENGES FOR LOCALLINK DONEGAL
1. Vulnerability and increased level of responsibility & governance required of a Voluntary Board of Directors Governance - THE BUCK STOPS HERE!
2. Integration of existing services, shelters and bus stops
3. Combine timetables at bus stops Bus Eireann, Private Operators & Rural Transport
4. No statutory governance/law/regulation on the transportation of people in wheelchairs – RSA, Traffic Corps, PSV Licensing, NTA
5. Lack of certainty prevents effective & efficient planning.
