(SITT) Set up in 2002 by South West Donegal Communities Partnership Ltd - CDP Independent Not For Profit Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) with Charitable Status Board of Directors and Management from the Community & Voluntary Sector A Focus on Social Inclusion Type Transport Provision Funded by The Departments of Transport and Social Protection Initially there were 3 companies delivering transport services in the county SITT MFG IDP Funded by The National Transport Authority, The HSE – Community Health & Letterkenny University Hospital

Expansion to South & East Donegal 2011 Former MFG area West Donegal 2015 SITT assumed responsibility for Rural and HSE transport for all of Donegal

We Employ 27 Staff 6 Admin, 17 Transport Assistants/Escorts for ID services 3 Community Employment and 1 Jobs Initiative Our Company Office is located in Killybegs with an Outreach Office Letterkenny Funded by The National Transport Authority, The HSE – Community Health & Letterkenny University Hospital

Rural Transport Services throughout Donegal HSE PCCC transport throughout Donegal including Arranmore and Tory Islands All non-emergency acute transport for LUH including Renal Dialysis, Hospital Discharge & Private Ambulances. Funded by The National Transport Authority, The HSE – Community Health & Letterkenny University Hospital

We all use various forms of transportation to get to where we are going. Some of us walk, some bike, some use public transport and other various forms of private transport. Public Transport in its norm has a wide number of functions but the overarching aim is to provide for: ONE TO ONE SERVICES MANY TO ONE SERVICE MANY TO MANY SERVICES

LYIT 3,000 STUDENTS SURVEY FINDINGS: 75% of students surveyed do not use public transport 51% travel daily more than 5km to college WHY? Not enough services (44%) Frequency of existing services (31%)

15 ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORT Passengers With Mobility Issues Survey summer 2016 findings: 66 registered passengers Wheelchairs: increasing in numbers & size Buses: Larger sizes required & increased weight capacity on lifts Drivers: No training outside of Rural Transport

16 ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORT ONGOING AREAS OF CONCERN
Not a responsibility of Traffic Corps or RSA Not included in PSV inspections 2012 – 2016: SITT have highlighted concerns & issued incident reports to the Dept, RSA, Gardai & NTA

17 CHALLENGES FOR LOCALLINK DONEGAL
1. Vulnerability and increased level of responsibility & governance required of a Voluntary Board of Directors Governance - THE BUCK STOPS HERE! 2. Integration of existing services, shelters and bus stops 3. Combine timetables at bus stops Bus Eireann, Private Operators & Rural Transport 4. No statutory governance/law/regulation on the transportation of people in wheelchairs – RSA, Traffic Corps, PSV Licensing, NTA 5. Lack of certainty prevents effective & efficient planning.

Introduction of new low floor buses on commuter routes ensuring accessibility for all Working in cooperation with SEAI to provide innovative and sustainable transport solutions – Driver training, EV pilot project

On target for 500,000 passenger trips 2016 Increased Health & Safety awareness and model of best practice achieved through IWA training and guidance
