28. Page 4 - Day 22 Count and note how many Lemna you see?
Label all the pond ingredients and use a ruler to show where each is located

29. Pond Observation - Micro
D’s get pond and everyone else - to lab stations and set-up
Take drop of pond water - using the pipette and place it into a depression slide. You will take a second drop of water and make a 2nd depression slide. 2 microscopes/2 slide.
Look for any organisms and draw any you see - 2 drawings on medium

30. Micro - TIPS for SUCCESS
Adjust the diaphragm of microscope - less light!
Start on low and scan for organisms - move to medium power after you see movement
Focus on organism - draw, estimate length and use scientific guidelines

31. Pond Observation - Micro
C’s responsible for cleaning (rinse in water) the slides and pipette and putting back in bin
A’s responsible for putting microscope away

32. Pond Observation - Macro
This is day 22
Count the number of lemna “fronds” you see
Draw a detailed picture of your pond - label all the ingredients (even new ones you see) using a ruler

Returning the Monot and Dicot Lab - trim and tape onto page 24 in your notebook
I will stamp Lesson 4 for a grade

On page 22, under last week’s notes, reflect and write about what changed since your last pond observation - this will help you with the “pond paper assignment” at the end of the lesson
