1 Allen Bond Proposal Components and Descriptions September 12, 2017
“Something to be Proud Of”

2 Allen Bond Project $7,575, Bond Proposal voting Sept 12, Proposal would add new classrooms across campus at the Elementary and JH and a new, air-conditioned, seat gymnasium with a community room.

3 Elementary Classroom Addition
This 5400 square ft. classroom addition will be located just to the south of the existing elementary school. There are 5 classrooms and a bonus class, office, or reception area. The facility is expandable to the south for future growth as needed.

4 Elementary Classroom Addition Site Plan
This design gives us 5400 sq. ft. of space including: five full classrooms and an extra office or lab class space along with spacious restrooms and it is designed to be fully expandable in the future. The North doors are directly adjacent to the current elementary entrance and there is “line-of-sight” from the south elementary office window all the way through the building down the hall.

5 JH Renovation and Addition
This classroom addition will add another 5400 sq. ft. to the JH and 5-6 new classrooms. It will also renovate the existing JH and eliminate extra exits and crossing spaces as well as add closets, new restrooms and a wider hall with locker access for over We will also have a new standing seam metal roof, thus eliminating our last flat roof on a classroom in the district. The addition enlarges the current JH to approximately square feet. It will also allow current JH classes taught in the HS to relocate to the JH freeing up space there.

6 Junior High Addition Site Plan
The 5400 sq. ft. Jr. High addition and remodel will make the building safer by limiting the number of exits and giving equal access to the hallways and restrooms to all classrooms. This design gives us a minimum five new classrooms with office space, spacious restrooms, locker space, a teacher workroom and an extra room for lab class or storage as needed.

7 Proposed Allen Gym A 1200-seat, air-conditioned horseshoe shaped arena approximately 700 chair- back stadium seats, ample restrooms and lobby space. Proposed location is at the corner of SH 48, Broadway and Memphis streets in downtown Allen, just south of the Elementary school and west of the Auditorium.

8 Allen Gym Entry Level Floor Plan
The courtside view shows an honor hall entrance, a spacious concession stand with an outside door for loading in supplies and lobby areas with viewing areas directly onto the court. Accommodations include ample handicapped access areas, spacious restrooms, lockers, coaching offices, and separate training and officials areas. We also have a hospitality room that can serve as an instructional space as needed.

9 Allen Gym Upper Level View
The upper level view shows approximately 700 stadium seat and the horseshoe student area along the east end with space for the band and a wide cheer area down front. This will have a wall that can serve as a backdrop for a stage and graduation or other events. Up front, over the concession area, is a large (3000+ square feet) multi-purpose room that can be used for alumni functions, meeting, hospitality during tournaments, proms, banquets, seminars or anything else appropriate to serve our school and community. The room also has restrooms and a light kitchen are as well.

Current gym seats 700 and is not eligible for OSSAA Tournament site consideration. New gym will be 1200 seats and climate-controlled with approximately 700 stadium seats for our patrons. Elementary addition will be expandable for future growth. The JH addition/renovation will eliminate safety issues and improve access to hallways restrooms and lockers. The 15-year length of the bond, coupled with the resulting lower increase in taxes, saves money while possibly insulating our district from automatic yearly tax increases for the foreseeable future. ARCHITECTS and CONSULTANTS To help with this project, the Allen Board of Education has contracted with Stephen McDonald and Associates, school bonding and financial consultants from Norman, Oklahoma, who have been the premier school bonding company in our state for almost 40 years. ARC is owned by architect, John Buckley, a well-known Oklahoma professional with well over 40 years’ experience. In fact, John was the principal designer and architect in charge of the standing-seam metal roofs that were retrofitted on Allen Public School buildings a few years ago. He was also named the school architect of the year in Oklahoma in His fee is 6.4%, which is less than previous quotes by others.
