How did the Change Champions come about? Simply we had open forums = Quick fixes Bright Idea! New Chief Exec – Dr Attila Vegh South Manchester Way We are honest and open. We say what we mean and we mean what we say. We welcome feedback, learn from mistakes and build on success.

Opportunity to ask why we do what we do. Freedom to succeed. Change the culture. Chief Exec authority (always good to have). Don’t take no for an answer…

4 Change Champion Projects
Clinical projects Standardisation of notes / documents. Roll out Acute Medical Registrar Review system. Standardising phlebotomy and cannulation trolleys throughout the hospital. IT projects Removal 30 minute limit on non work-related web access. Allowed staff to access Dropbox on request. Increased size limit for attachments to 30MB. Wifi internet access for staff. Staff benefits Fruity Friday’ – monthly free fruit to staff. Expanded staff benefits and discounts

7 It is not enough for a clinician to act as a practitioner in their own discipline.
They must act as partners to their colleagues, accepting shared accountability for the service offered to patients. They are also expected to offer leadership, and to work with others to change systems when it is necessary for the benefit of patients. 7

By giving all staff the opportunity to make a difference and get involved! As a junior doctor the Change Champions projects have given me the opportunity to learn about NHS management structures, something I've never really been involved with before - CT1 ACCS The Project Management training was excellent, I have never had this type of training throughout my medical degree – ST3 Surgery “Grow your own genius!” Professor Ged Byrne, HENW, Director of Education and Quality
