3 What Questions Do You have About the INfoExpress Courier?
I’m going to give you an update on how InfoExpress is doing. While I’m talking we encourage you to use one of the 3x5 cards that are currently being passed around to write down any questions you have about the service. When you are done, hold your card up and Mike Hicks and Jill Black will collect them and we will answer all of the questiosn we have time for. I’ll take the easy ones and give Nick the hard ones. Any questions that we don’t get to today, will be sent out to the INfoExpress list serve.

4 The courier service we know today as InfoExpress has been around for a while. Originally, it was know as INCOLSA Wheels and was run through the INCOLSA operation with the funding provided by the Indiana State Library

As of right now, InfoExpress connects just under 400 Indiana Libraries. These libraries are served by six service hubs by the NOW Courier: Merrillville, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Evansville and Louisville.. Yes, I know Louisville is not in Indiana, but if you don’t tell on us, they’ll never know.

As you all know, libraries can subscribe to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 day a week service. The largest percentage, about 40%, of our members get 1 day-a-week service. Twice each year, we send out a set of test books to measure the delivery times between every combination of libraries we can think of. We measure between the different combination of service days, and within the local service hubs and across service hubs.

14 Daily Rate $ 625 Same Cost as Last Year! 2017-2018 Rate
(Effective 1 July 2017) Daily Rate $ 625 Regular Rate 1 Day-a-week service Subsidized $ 100 2 Day-a-week service $ 725 3 Day-a-week service $1,350 Ok, that’s great, but what you really want to know is what is it going to cost me this year. The answer is the exact same price as last year. 4 Day-a-week service $1,975 5 Day-a-week service $2,600 Same Cost as Last Year!

15  1st Day Subsidies Virtually all Indiana libraries qualify for the 1st Day InfoExpress subsidy $100 a year vs. $625 a year Exceptions: Out of Standards Public Libraries Branches of libraries Virtually all Indiana libraries qualify for the 1st Day InfoExpress subsidy, which means that one day a week service costs them just $100 a year as opposed to the actual cost of $625. The exceptions are libraries that are out of standards and branches of libraries who already subscribe.

(Effective 1 July 2017) Daily Rate $ 625 Resource Sharing Rate Regular Rate 1 Day-a-week service Subsidized $ Subsidized $ 100 2 Day-a-week service $ Subsidized $ 300 3 Day-a-week service $1, $ 925 For those of you who qualify for the second day’s subsidy, known as the Resource Sharing rate, that price is also the same as last year. 4 Day-a-week service $1, $1,550 5 Day-a-week service $2,600 $2,175 Same Cost as Last Year!

 2nd Day Subsidies (Resource Sharing Subsidy) A partial subsidy for a 2nd day of service is available for libraries who meet any of the following resource sharing criteria: Libraries who Libraries who subscribe to 5-day-a-week InfoExpress service or Libraries who subscribes to OCLC ILL subsystem or Libraries who are net lenders (# lends / # borrow = > 1.0) or Libraries who participate in Evergreen Indiana and who subscribe to two (2) or more days of InfoExpress service. This 2nd day subsidy is available for libraries who meet any of the following resource sharing criteria: Libraries who subscribe to 5-day-a-week InfoExpress service or Libraries who subscribes to OCLC ILL subsystem or Libraries who are net lenders (# lends / # borrow = > 1.0) or Libraries who participate in Evergreen Indiana and who subscribe to two (2) or more days of InfoExpress service.

18 New Public Library Standards
Minimum standards for public libraries 590 IAC (aa): “Libraries shall participate in the statewide delivery service managed by the Indiana state library with a minimum of one (1) day per week of service for each two thousand (2,000) packages shipped or received per year, based on the previous year's total volume.” Old Standards Class A Libraries Minimum 3 Days Class B Libraries Minimum 2 Days Class C Libraries Minimum 1 Day Other libraries ???? New Standards Less than 2,000 per Year 1 Day Minimum 2,000 to 3,999 per Year 2 Days Minimum 4,000 to 5,999 per Year 3 Days Minimum 6,000 to 7,999 per Year 4 Days Minimum 8,000 or more per Year 5 Days Minimum On January 1, the standards for public libraries changed. If you are not with a public library, you might think that this doesn’t apply to your library, but you would be wrong. One of the changes to these standards is the way that we set the minimum number of days for INfoExpress service.
