3. Land Pollution Includes household garbage and industrial waste
In 2010, Americans produced ~250 millions tons of garbage
~54% is in landfills
~34% is recycled
Hazardous waste is generated by mining, petroleum refining, pesticide manufacturing and other chemical productions, households also generate hazardous waste through paints, chemical solvents, motor fluids, fluorescent lights, etc

4. Air Pollution
Substances in the atmosphere that have damaging effects on living things and the environment
Over the past 150 years human activity has raised CO2 levels higher than it has been for hundreds and thousands of years
Kills more than 2 million people worldwide a year
Ex. Methyl isocyanate produced at a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal in 1984 killed over 2,000 people and over 200,000 suffered respiratory problems

5. Light Pollution Caused by excessive, misdirected, artificial light
Disrupts Ecosystems
Birds sing at unnatural hours
Confuses migratory patterns
Sky Glow, makes it difficult for astronomers to properly see the sky
According to the American Geophysical Union, light pollution could also make smog worse by destroying nitrate radicals that helps the dispersion of smog

6. Community Service
Volunteer work with local JSA for cherry blossom festival
Indirectly spreads awareness of the environment through the scenery
Cleaning up the streets with local community groups
Previously worked with groups to clean up streets of cities and towns
Includes Boston and other Massachusetts towns and here
