2 Main Achievements Occupational Standard for “Sewage Engineering Technicians” and the derived vocational training programme based on German standard which appropriates to Vietnam circumstances and was developed by TVET-Institute, enterprises, business association and related ministries Improved the competence of teachers and in-company trainers oriented to German standard The pilot training started in November, 2015 “Sewage Engineering Technician” has been recognized as national training occupation.

The capability of training and supplying Training based on business needs is an objective required The strategy in Green Growth of Vietnamese Government The cooperative vocational training programme for “Sewage Engineering Technicians” to supply high qualified human resources which meet the demand of the enterprises in the drainage and wastewater treatment field

4 Cooperation in the Pilot Cooperative Training Programme “Sewage Engineering Technician”
Cooperation agreement between relating parties in the Cooperative Training programme: MoLISA/GDVT, Line Ministry (Ministry of Construction), College of Technology II, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association and enterprises about functions, responsibilities and cooperating mechanism

5 The Pilot Cooperative Training Programme “Sewage Engineering Technicians”
Strong connection between training phases at vocational institutes and at enterprises Practical training mostly takes place at drainage enterprises: Lasts for 40 weeks, takes 1/3 of total training time On-the-job training in real work environment

6 Lessons learnt and recommendations
Strong cooperation between TVET institutes, professional association and enterprises in all stages: identifying occupational standard, building and implementing training programme, assessment takes a very important role. Comprehensive capacity development approach: intensive practice-oriented further training for teaching staff, development of occupational standard and training programme, assessment Regular exchange among stakeholders at all levels to take joint decisions Training activities frequently take place in 2 places: vocational institute and enterprise Potential to implement next courses for Sewage Engineering Technicians and spread out the Cooperative Training model to other TVET institutes and other training fields
