Target audience: Parents of current Target students that have already seen the progress report powerpoint. To be presented at Target Open House in August or September.

14. Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most notable geniuses in history
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most notable geniuses in history. Among other things, he was an inventor, an engineer, a scientist, a mathematician, and an artist – the ultimate Renaissance man! Not only is this unit an interactive introduction to da Vinci - his work, his times, and his continuing impact; it is an exploration of the 21st Century 4 C’s – Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity. In this unit, students will actively engage in da Vinci’s works and creative responses to his work.

15. The Georgia Performance Standards
PACE is a multi-year unit that teaches the gifted primary student the critical learning techniques involved with: Primary algebra, Affective learning (self reflect, self respect, respect for others), Cognitive thinking (convergent and divergent thinking) and Extension learning.
In addition to learning these critical thinking skills, second grade will also participate in a mini-framework on Humor: what it is, its physical aspects, and various types of humor.

16. The Georgia Performance Standards
Code.org has developed an elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing and computer science. The students work through online, self-guided and teacher supported lessons to become apprentice coding masters. The ultimate goal is for them to learn to code independently and program the RECON rovers to come alive.

17. InVenture InVenture Challenge
Coming January 2017 to Kincaid. The Invention Convention.
InVenture is a unique opportunity for students to use their divergent thinking to solve real-world problems that are important to them. It requires them to use their executive function skills to plan, use class time well and create a product. While there will be InVenture-related activities given as homework, the following are parts of the process that must be done at school:
Prototype: Students may need assistance with special tasks using electrical equipment such as drills and saws. This may be done at home; however, the actual creation of the prototype must be done in the classroom.
Tri-board: Students will complete the required writing on the tri-board in the classroom. The actual creation of the tri-board must also be done at school.
Note: Teams may not spend more than $25 on their prototype!
