Drawing on apprenticeships critical path: Launch 5 new apprenticeship programmes Q1 Approve 5+ programmes from Categories 2, 3 for development Further streamline statutory processes, funding arrangements, relationships industry, providers, consortia, statutory agencies

9 2 Prepare 2017 Call for proposals
Gather reflections on experience –shapes design of new Call Develop guidance document – areas of need, industry profile Explore expansion of apprenticeship into public service – eg ICT, caring occupations Enhance technology and IT platforms to support apprenticeship system, including 2017 Call

10 3 Develop capacity within education and training system
Objective: Expert, smooth-running apprenticeship development and delivery processes – world-class Enhance skills identification, programme development expertise within system Roll-out technology-based supports and solutions Effectively combine regional and national infrastructure

11 4 Engage strategically with enterprise partners
With D/JEI, agree with enterprise agencies practical steps to develop employer awareness and buy-in Reach SMEs who have never previously used apprenticeship, traineeship Regional skills fora promote & support expansion project

12 5 Establish evaluation framework
Enhance data collection and analysis, outcomes via dedicated project Develop mechanisms to gather systematic feedback from apprentices and employers Monitor and improve access and participation pathways and trends Enhance horizon-scanning and forecasting of skills needs

13 6 Roll out promotional campaign
Develop central hub for promotional activity – connecting employers, apprentices Explore use of CAO as a platform to promote ‘expression of interest’ in apprenticeship Draw on consortia as key partners in a co-ordinated national campaign, also enterprise agencies, regional skills fora Incorporate and promote traineeship as part of work-based learning innovation

14 7 Develop traineeship critical path & roll out
Establish national steering group – SOLAS, ETBs Review and consolidate traineeship provision and development Agree traineeship features and development process Ensure traineeship and apprenticeship complement each other
