Status of JIP for the update of API 17TR2 “The Ageing of PA-11 in Flexible Pipes”
SOW is to provide Guidelines for Qualification of Polyamides (PA11, PA12, …) in Flexible Pipes based on collecting field experience and integrity issues, and standardizing test procedures and acceptance criteria after performing round robin tests to ensure reproducibility. Steering Committee meeting held on November 8th and 9th, 2016. Round robin tests on PA11 and PA12 at different test labs completed. Test scatter is being compared, and results - analyzed for reproducibility. 9 JIP Participants: ExxonMobil, GE Oil&Gas, Evonik, NOV Flexibles, Woodside, PetroBras, Total, Arkema, 4Subsea. JIP Manager – 4Subsea Norway. K. Doynov will submit SRRR form for revision to 17TR2, upon JIP completion in 2017/2018.

Status of API 17K (ISO 13628-10 - on hold)
API 17K (upcoming 3rd edition) ballot opened on Dec-7, 2016 and will close on Feb-1, 2017. Ballot was delayed with 4-to-5 months due to conducting material- and mid-scale testing to verify FAT test acceptance criterion for seawater intake bonded pipes – a new application added to API 17K. API ballot comments to be addressed in 2Q17; and the new 3rd edition published in 3Q17. Project Summary: Duration – 2.5 years (January May 2017); 5 F2F meetings of FPTG = 3 * Houston + 1 * Oslo/Norway + 1 * Pau/France; F2F meeting attendance – between 13 and 22 SMEs; Participating companies – up to 28; Participating SMEs – up to 45; Project Champion: Gergely Szekely of ContiTech: leading manufacturing task group, testing, and providing organizational and technical support. API 17K updates based on synergies with the latest revisions of API 17J, 17B, 17L1, 17L2 and pulling Industry lessons learned since 2005: Pressure and temperature definitions, System design philosophy, load classes, load conditions, design load effects, design methodology verification, pipe and end fitting design acceptance criteria, storage and operating bend radii; Material qualification and matching testing standards – with new details on non-metallic reinforcement materials and elastomers; Manufacturing control updates; Repair procedures validated with test data; Documentation requirements specified; FAT: new tests and test procedure updates for SWI application and bonded pipe constructions with non-metallic reinforcement components; Purchasing guidelines and pipe data sheet update.
