3 Vision and Mission Vision: Vision is to connect the school system to the needs of the STEM industries, so that teachers can help increase the pipeline of STEM students into our universities. “Catch Them Young” Mission: Mission is to do projects that gives the students the hands on experience to spur their curiosity and enthusiasm and at the same time create IEEE awareness in the Central Texas Schools for STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

Science In A Box - partnering with Round Rock Independent School District’s Partners In Education (PIE) Make the World a Better Place – partnering with Dripping Springs ISD Future City – partnering with University of Texas Discover Engineering BEST Robotics

Expense for Science In A Box - $500/-

6 Science-In-A-Box: Current Status
Completed the kick-off – March 2016 Resumed the project activities in Aug 2016 as the teacher was travelling around the globe to fulfill her Texas Teacher of the Year duties for 2016 Working with IEEE to get the funds to the school to purchase kits – Estimated to complete Oct 2016 Rollout to start Nov 2016 Estimated pilot completion time March 2016

7 WHY Why are we doing an outreach?
Create awareness for IEEE regional activities Target middle school and high school They are Americas’ future workforce Create curiosity and promote critical thinking at this impressionable age Introduce real life applications of Science, Technology, Math early on Potential shadowing/interning opportunities for high-school students in the industry

8 WHAT Science-In-Box. Science is all around us and not just in labs
Create one science box Box will have all the supplies, instructions and higher level questions needed to understand that concept Boxes will be cataloged by the library so that they can be checked out by the students Student checks kit out for a week and conducts the experiment at home Supplies are replenished to make it ready for check out again
