3. Three Spiritual Division:
Dear Children – those who are young in the faith. Newer converts to the Lord.
Fathers – long-time mature disciples. Those who have been in the faith for a good long time (non-gender specific).
Young Men – the “work horses” of the congregation. Young (spiritually), active, vital to the work of the congregation (non-gender specific).

4. Dear Children – Vs. 12, 13
Vs. 12 – Because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
Vs. 13 – Because you have known the Father.

5. Acts 2:38 – Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

6. Ephesians 1:7 -- In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace….
So you DO love!
So you ARE walking in the light!

7. Fathers – Vs. 13, 14
Vs. 13 – Because you have known Him who was from the beginning.
Vs. 14 – Because you have known Him who was from the beginning.

8. So: You DO obey His Commands!
Ephesians 1: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
So: You DO obey His Commands!
1 Jn. 2:3

9. Vs. 13 – Because you have overcome the evil one.
Young Men – Vs. 13, 14
Vs. 13 – Because you have overcome the evil one.
Vs. 14 – Because you are strong
And the word of God lives in you
You have overcome the evil one

10. As Jesus Has Overcome…
John 16:33 -- "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

11. As Joshua Was Encouraged…
Vs. 6 – Be strong and courageous
Vs. 7 – Be strong and very courageous
Vs. 9 –Be strong and courageous
Vs. 18 – Only be strong and courageous!

12. Filled to overflowing with God’s word…
Jeremiah 20:9 – “But if I say, ‘I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,’ His word is like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
