If you live to be 1 million seconds you’d be 11.6 days old. If you live to be 1 billion seconds you’d be 31.7 years old. If you had 1 million $ in $1000 bills the stack would be 6.3 inches high If you had 1 billion $ in $1000 bills the stack would be 357 feet high.

2 World Population The world’s population reached 1 billion in the early 1800s By 1930 it doubled to 2 billion, by 1975 it doubled to 4 billion. In 1999 the population reached 6 billion In 2011, it reached 7 billion.

Population is NOT evenly distributed Climate, altitude, water access, and political/economic situation influence where people live. 90% of the pop. lives in the Northern Hemisphere. 66% of the pop. lives between 20ºN and 60ºN The least densely populated areas are polar, desert, and mountainous regions.

Pull- those reasons that attract people to another country such as economic opportunity, better technology, or better climate.

250+ million people live in megacities- cities with 8+ million Characteristics of a city center of business and/or culture suburbs- built up areas around the city exurbs- smaller cities near the larger city metropolitan area- the city, its suburbs, and exurbs megalopolis- an area in which several large cities have grown together such as Washington D.C. to Boston.
