Topics within each volume are in alphabetical order

Index volume - alphabetical list of all topics in the encyclopedia and what volume & pages

6. Locating Information inside a volume
You go to the volume containing the letter of the alphabet that your topic begins with.
Example:
If you want to find out about Mexico, you could go to the M volume, and then using the guide words at the top of the page find the article on Mexico

Free versions:
Wikipedia is an web-based encyclopedia. Be sure to check your information against another reliable source

8. HELPFUL HINTS If a subject has 2 parts, look up under the first part
North America would be under N for North
Pacific Ocean would be under P for Pacific
Look up a person under their last name
George Washington would be found under Washington
King George would be found under George
