Strategy Lack of career awareness Inadequate subject guidance Inadequate building of numeracy and literacy skills Uneven standard of education Grow potential pool of learners (Mathematics not Maths Literacy) Increase awareness of accountancy as a profession Provide programmes to improve results of learners and educators in Mathematics, Science, Accounting and English Identify talented learners for recruitment into tertiary level study

Strategy Poor throughput pass percentages (African and Coloured) Little focus on life skills Inability of historically black institutions to get accredited Time-to-QE too long due to part-time studies Lack of effective learning model Lack of monitoring and mentoring Lack of funding Widen tertiary curriculum to include life and business skills Increase provision of bursaries to African and Coloured students Get universities to sign an MOU to obtain commitment to Thuthuka and objectives Provide more and better supervision to bursary management Identify problematic courses for African and Coloured students at an early stage and implement remedial action Ensure enrolments reflect the country’s demographics

769 undergraduate students at nationwide universities (2016) Thuthuka CTA pass rate at 72% - surpassing national average (2015) Thuthuka contributes 45% of African & coloured CTA numbers Over 800 trainees placed (2009 – 2015) QE Thuthuka has reached over learners Successful collaboration with the Department of Education & National Skills Fund Attendance at school level strong despite school holidays Higher quality of learners participating in Science Development Camps (stronger Mathematics ratio) Post Graduates Under Graduates Schools

Over 600 Honors Degrees (CTA) Since 2008 over 800 Trainees allocated to donors +300 Chartered Accountants Since 2005 the TBF has sponsored over 3000 students 9 of the 16 SAICA Accredited Universities are also Thuthuka Universities 19
