1 Fact or Fib 7.9A & 7.9D

2 Instructions: 1) As a group review the information given about each shape. 2) A statement will be made about the shape. 3) Determine with your group if the statement is a FACT or a FIB. 4) If it is a FIB, what would be a FACT statement that could be made instead.

3 FACT or FIB? V=Bh V= (5*4)x 6 V= 20 x 6 Fact V= 120 cm³ Fact.

4 FACT or FIB? To determine the volume of this triangular prism, you would use 44cm as B. Fib! FIB. B is the area of the base, the base is the triangle rather than the rectangle. B=6 Students would need to tell you the correct number for big B and then they could solve for the volume.

5 Fib! FACT or FIB? V= Bh V= (8*7) x 6 V= 336 in³
Fib. Students should note that the wrong formula for volume of a rectangular pyramid was used. 112in cubed is the correct volume

6 Fib! 511.89 cm³ FACT or FIB? Solve
To find the volume of the triangular pyramid you would use 18.9 as b for the triangle? Solve Determine the Volume of the triangular pyramid. Fib is not needed to determine the volume of the triangular pyramid cm³

7 Fact All three of the rectangular prisms have the same volume? Fact

8 Fib! Jason solved for the volume of this triangular prism correctly.
Fib. He used the hypotenuse of the triangle as the height of the prism.

9 Allison built a rectangular prism toy box.
Fib! The dimensions of the base of this toy box are 12 inches by 24 inches. FIB. The base dimensions are 24 x 36 The toy box has a volume of 9ft³. The height of the toy box is 18inches.

10 Fact The height of the pyramid is 6 inches.
The volume of this pyramid is 12in³.
