4 Raw footage Raw footage is all of the unedited video content that you’ve shot Raw footage is important for obvious reasons More is better usually

5 Getting to the final product
Sequencing your content Inserting or cleaning audio if necessary Cutting or removing unnecessary or distracting content Inserting title slides

Preview Raw video Video sequence Audio sequence

7 Sequencing basics Put all relevant video files in the timeline of your video editor Separate the audio from the video Split video where you want to introduce segues Zoom in and out of the timeline as necessary

8 audio Add voice over audio track if necessary
Use auto-enhance features in the software Use background music in your introduction and conclusion Introduce music during parts of the video that require video but no audio

9 Cutting Content Watch the video and decide places where deleting content would be helpful Long pauses Um’s and other filler words Speed up content to 2x or more when you want to show the process but the details don’t matter much or are repetitive (e.g., lifting car using a jack)

10 Introducing title slides
Nearly all editing software allows you to add text slides Insert text slides in the introduction and conclusion Insert text slides between split sections Use CRAP principles on textual elements and be consistent
