Adjective/Noun Agreement It all has to match! Masculine or feminine Singular or plural

Number and Gender  Adjectives are words which describe nouns or pronouns.  In Spanish, all adjectives must agree in number and gender with the nouns they describe.  Gender: nouns are either masculine or feminine.  Number: nouns are either singular or plural.

How to use adjectives  Unlike English, in Spanish, adjectives usually follow the nouns they describe. Ex. Una casa grande.

To describe one person or thing, use: es + a singular adjective. Ex. El libro es divertido. La clase es divertida.

To describe more than one person or thing, use: Son + a plural adjective. Ex. Los libros son buenos. Las clases son buenas.

If you are describing a group of males and females, use: a masculine plural adjective. Ex. Mis amigos son simpaticos.

Ajectives ending in –e or a consonant such as l, r, or n have only two forms: singular and plural. To make these adjectives plural, add –s or –es. Ex. El libro es interesante. Los libros son interesantes. La clase es dificil. Las clases son dificiles.
