Mountains By seb may and Ryan may AKA my brother

2 Ben Nevis is also the highest mountain in Great Britain
Facts about mountains Mountains make up about one-fifth of the world's landscape, and provide homes to at least one-tenth of the world's people. About 80 per cent of our planet's fresh water originates in the mountains The world's highest peak on land is Mount Everest in the Himalayas. It is 8, m (29,036 ft) tall. Ben Nevis is also the highest mountain in Great Britain In some mountainous areas the rivers are permanently frozen. These are called glaciers

3 Facts These mountains form when faults or cracks in the earth's crust force some materials or blocks of rock up and others down Fold mountains are the most common type of mountain. The world’s largest mountain ranges are fold mountains. These ranges were formed over millions of years Instead of the earth folding over, the earth's crust fractures (pulls apart). It breaks up into blocks or chunks. Sometimes these blocks of rock move up and down, as they move apart and blocks of rock end up being stacked on one another
