WHERE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO USE NOTES & SKETCHES
GCSE PRODUCT DESIGN TARGETING THEORY WHERE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO USE NOTES & SKETCHES Knowledge & understanding – exam context. To demonstrate to the examiner your understanding of processes and techniques (i.e. graphical, materials, ICT, making, packaging) This needs to be communicated clearly. b) Planning and thinking ahead – project / coursework context. To illustrate how you intend to manufacture a product before you actually make it! Presenting, evaluating, comparing – project / coursework / reviewing context. To show how you made a product highlighting problems, amendments and changes you made during the making process. The key points for using notes & sketches successfully: 1 – Use both 2 & 3dimensional sketches/drawings. 2 – Use annotation to explain/qualify your answer. 3 – Use arrows to point out key aspects. 4 – Use a ‘stage by stage’ approach. This helps you to break the task down into smaller more manageable chunks of information. 5 - Think about a ‘sequence’ of events and order them correctly.

QUESTION 2: Illustrate clearly using notes and sketches how a ‘suitable’ package could be made for the MP3 player you have designed for question 1. Marks will be awarded for: Suitability of packaging and reason for choice (2), Materials used/combined (2), Processes/techniques that may be used (4), Reference to how the package would be manufactured commercially (2), Overall quality of communication (3) Answer both questions in your sketchbooks and assign a single page/side to each question.
