10 Road Blocks: obstacles or challenging situations in your life.
Give me some examples of potential road blocks you may face in your lifetime.

11 Ross’s Story

12 Road Map Assignment Using the paper, create a personal Road Map to chart major “milestones” and “roadblocks” in your life such as starting school, moving, musical recitals, sports events, joining a team, making or losing a friend, family events such as births, marriages, divorces, etc. These events, both good and bad, have led your development and growth towards where you are today. Be creative! If you wish to draw pictures or other symbols, you may. Be sure to put the age that you were when these events happened. Start at birth and continue through today. You must have at least 20 significant events.

14 Day 3: Self-Esteem

15 Self-Concept/Self-Esteem
Self Concept- Self concept is how we see ourselves and what we know about ourselves. Give me some factors that influence our self concept Self Esteem- the way we see ourselves more based on the opinion of others. This goes up and down throughout our life and is ever changing.

16 What’s the Difference? The key difference between self-concept and self-esteem is that the addition of feelings. Self-concept is simply the informational side of things, where you know facts about what you are like. Self-esteem is how you feel about those things you know, like whether you enjoy the fact that you are talkative at parties (high self-esteem) or you think that you are annoying and need to learn to be quiet sometimes (low self-esteem). There are a variety of self- esteem effects that can come from the self-concept.

17 High vs. Low High Self Esteem- confident in ourselves, don’t worry about what others think, very optimistic. Low Self Esteem- lack of confidence, wish we looked like somebody else, always worried about what others think, very pessimistic.

18 Self Concept/Self Esteem
Self Image- how we see ourselves physically Self Confidence- believing in yourself and your abilities.

38 Goals Short Term Goals: you can accomplish these goals very quickly (1-3 days) Long Term Goals: These goals take longer to accomplish (months-years) { Write down 3 short term goals you have and 3 long term goals you have }

39 Why was round 1 hard?

40 Why was Round 2 a little easier?

41 After not doing so well on the first two round how did you feel about doing the same thing but blindfolded. Was it helpful when the other students were giving you advice of where to shoot it when you were blindfolded.

42 How can we relate this to goals?
Round 1 Sometimes goals are hard to reach. Don’t set unrealistic goals (make them smart and measureable)

43 2nd Round The backboard acted like a short term goal, helping you to accomplish your long term goals. Sometimes we reach some short term goals and still fall short of the long term ones.

44 3rd round Losing sight of your goals makes life difficult
Listening to all the people around is confusing, so stick to one for guidance.

45 Round 4 Getting help with goals is a good idea. There is more chance of success if you work with someone, in Round 4 someone moved the basket to help them achieve their goals, neither could do it on their own but working together helped both to achieve their goals.

46 Short Term Goal Short-Term Goals: accomplished quickly, usually
within 1-3 days

47 Don’t give up what you want most for what you want right now!!!

48 Long Term Goal Long-Term Goals: take longer to accomplish,
possibly within months or even years EX. Graduating from High school, getting a job, etc.

49 Achieving your short-term goals will help you reach your long-term goals
