8 Good Samaritan Law These are laws that protect you when you help in an emergency situation

9 A reasonable and prudent person would:
move a victim only if the persons life was in danger ask a conscious victim for permission before giving care. check the victim for life-threatening conditions before providing further care call 911 provide care until trained personal arrive

The presence of other people Uncertainty that an emergency really exist Uncertainty about the victim The type of injury or illness Fear of doing something wrong Fear of being sued Fear of catching a disease

11 Basic guidelines to reduce disease transmission
Avoid contact with body fluids if possible Use protective breathing barriers Use disposable gloves Cover any cuts or sores you may have Do not eat, drink or touch your mouth, nose or eyes when giving first aid Do not touch objects that may be soiled with blood

19 Airway Head Tilt - Chin Lift Look Listen and Feel for 5 seconds
Looking at the chest, listen/feel for breathing

20 Provide 2 breaths (chest should rise)
Breathing Provide 2 breaths (chest should rise)

21 Circulation Find the Carotid Artery Check pulse for 10 seconds
