1 FIRST WORLD WAR DRESSING STATION
What happened to you when you got injured or ill during the war

2 Soldiers lived in trenches in the Great War.

3 Trenches were dangerous
Soldiers were at risk of getting hurt or ill when living in the trenches Trenches did not provide much protection They were cold, wet and muddy Soldiers could be hurt by bombs or bullets

4 First Aid Some soldiers carried first aid bags
This is an original first aid bag Compare it to our modern first aid kit in the classroom Often soldiers needed more than first aid

5 Dressing Station

6 Moving a casualty Sometimes a soldier needed to go for more treatment. They would be taken by stretcher to the dressing station At the dressing station, a soldier would be assessed and treated or moved to a hospital

7 At the hospital The hospitals would be away from the fighting.
Women were allowed to work in the hospitals Many of the soldiers were terribly injured and many died. Some soldiers needed many months in hospital to get well again.
