3 Background – why change?
Membership system is not meeting member needs Technology is old and rapidly becoming unreliable Current system is no longer fit for purpose Survey & consultations with over 4000 members Scout Association specified a system that would manage the various processes that we use in one system Merseyside County Scouts

What is Compass? Compass is a powerful set of online tools for members to manage their Scouting administrative activities in one place It can share access to that information with relevant Scouting colleagues The system streamlines many tasks currently performed to manage Scouting so members spend less time on administration It is the only online system provided by The Scout Association and it is free of charge to its users Merseyside County Scouts

Youth member records COMPASS will hold parent details and emergency contact information Parents can access young person’s record to update information and see progress Young people (over 14) can: access their records monitor their progress & achievements Register interest for QSA and Explorer Belt Young Leaders can access: Programmes On-Line Their own records to monitor YL Training and Missions Merseyside County Scouts

11 Training, Permits & Awards
Easier creation and printing of Personal Learning plans Easier recording of adult training (update multiple users in one action) Better recording of ongoing learning (1st Aid, Safety etc.) Better reporting functions Manage the activity permit process on-line Manage the adult awards process on-line Merseyside County Scouts

Communicate with other adult/youth members using COMPASS alerts SMS Text messaging Create and manage distribution lists Opt into HQ communications based on interest not role Ability to manage joining enquiries and joining lists on-line Merseyside County Scouts

Timeline On 11th August MMS will stop for all users Two weeks later the new Compass system will go online with all the MMS data During this 2 week window there will be no access to data in MMS Once Compass is up and running users will be invited by to register in phases. Merseyside County Scouts

Roll out Phase One These appointments will be invited immediately as Compass Goes Live Appointment Secretaries (all levels) County & District Secretaries County/Area/District Commissioners Merseyside County Scouts

Roll out Phase Two These appointments will be invited One Week after Go Live County Training Managers Local Training Managers Local Training Administrators Merseyside County Scouts

Roll out Phase Three These appointments will be invited Two Weeks after Go Live Group Scout Leaders Section Leaders who have maintained youth data in MMS Merseyside County Scouts

Register any time In order to register you must have a valid address registered in the current MMS system All members can sign up to Compass from the first day the system is live. Merseyside County Scouts

Training NHQ have developed a series of how to videos and step by step guide This have been tested by over 50 users (various positions) across the country These videos and guides should enable users to use the system effectively First point of contact should be District Champion, then County team Whole County training day 29th November participants will be able book in advance for a session Merseyside County Scouts
