PrepToolkit is designed to promote implementation of the National Preparedness System (NPS). Technology toolkits aid users with:
Collaborative Communities and Topics of Interest
Planning and delivery of exercises
Mutual Aid and Resource Typing

Early March marked a milestone for PrepToolkit when it was granted an Authorization to Operate (ATO)
PrepToolkit is designed to promote implementation of the National Preparedness System (NPS).  The Validating Capabilities (exercises) component is an IT platform that supports implementation of HSEEP and aid exercise planners and will have functionality that is similar to legacy HSEEP Toolkit.  The core of PrepToolkit represents a joint effort between NED and THD to develop a national integrated exercise system capable of fulfilling the requirements of multiple exercise programs.
PrepToolkit also currently hosts the following NIMS Tools: Resource Typing Library Tool (RTLT)  and  Incident Resource Inventory System (IRIS)
Since March, PrepToolkit has migrated to the .gov domain  and launched its initial release centered around Design & Development (Collaboration) and Conduct (Master Scenario Event List) phases
Target stakeholder use during initial release will be limited and focused around NEP exercises.
Additional functionality will be rolled out through the year. The first planned release will center on Program Management to include exercise scheduling (similar legacy NEXS), NEP nomination & calendar. Target July 2017 and this release will mark the wide release of the tool to whole community

Status: DHS/FEMA granted an Authorization to Operate (ATO) in early March 2017.
Former components residing at preptoolkit.org were migrated to the preptoolkit.fema.gov domain

4. Current Resource Typing Capabilities
Resource Typing Library Tool (RTLT) provides data driven typing definitions for personnel and equipment
Database is searchable online and can aid jurisdictions in a standard approach to typing when inventorying resources
An API service is available for 3rd party systems to connect to RTLT
Systems will receive updates to Typing Definitions provided by FEMA

Incident Resource Inventory System (IRIS) is available for download
Allows users to inventory and type resources
Data is stored locally and all controls for sharing, viewing, and managing resources are controlled locally.
IRIS provides KML exports for Geospatial data viewing
IRIS fully connects to RTLT to maintain current definitions
